MemberUpdate 31st May: Sorry, my internet went down Saturday morning and midday today I managed to get online again!!! Where do I start?
Trekkers spent the first night as planned at Ioribaiwa Village. One of our porters developed problems and our guide ended up carrying some 42kg on day 2. One of the fittest staff we have and a 20 hour runner, took his pack forward and turned back to help carry the pack that Wallace was doubling. One of the trekkers also was taking it easy but I believe is now powering along. The porter too has recovered and all is ok.
The second night was spent at Agulogo and last night was at Efogi II.
I believe it was also the first time for a singalong as the other nights everyone just turned in early.
The were planning today on having lunch at 1900/Myola Junction and and spending the night at Templeton's.

Member1st June: Trekkers have now reached Isurava Memorial where they will spend the night. Tomorrow they will have a -8 hour day ahead of them as they walk out into the Kokoda Station. Our truck will be on standby to meet them and drive them down to Orohaven Kokoda Retreat which is situated adjacent to the airport runway.
No doubt they will fill up on pizza's and beer to celebrate their successful trek.
The plan for tomorrow is to have a service at the memorial before moving off towards Kokoda.

MemberUpdate 2nd June: Congratulations to trek 651 who walked off the track today in Kokoda and are resting at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. I was told they were tucking into some pizza's earlier on this evening and by now will probably be sound asleep in readiness for their drive down to Popondetta tomorrow morning.

MemberUpdate 3rd June: Trekkers drove down to Popondetta as planned this morning and caught the Dash 8 flight back to Port Moresby arriving here around 11am.
We met up with them and drove them to their accommodation at the Gateway Hotel. They looked happy and relaxed as they chatted about their experience on the track and about our boys who kept them company.
Later this afternoon I met up with them again when I delivered a walking stick that one of our porters worked on during the day. Two were in the swimming pool while the others looked on from poolside.
The photograph below wer taken as they walked towards the Kokoda Station.
The carving they are standing behind is situated at the Kokoda Hospital and was put their by ourselves some years back so it is nice to still see people lining up to have their photographs taken with them. We had several carved here in Port Moresby and flew them across to Kokoda.
