MemberAround 6:30am this morning we left Port Moresby and headed out to Sogeri Lodge to pick up our latest trekker Graham Bailey who decided to walk from Owers' Corner to Kokoda on a 9 day trek. He will arrive on the 18th October and will fly back into Port Moresby on the 19th.
We met up with Graham when he arrived yesterday 9th October and drove him out to Bomana War Cemetery

MemberIt was soon time to bid our farewell to trek 638 under the leadership of John Derick Eroro and Roget Hango from Kokoda who are walking alongside Graham. On the way out, Graham relayed how he often went bush walking and seemed well prepared for the journey ahead of him. He mentioned that only carrying one days food supplies is a first as sometimes he goes for up to 10 days at a time and carries the lot himself.

MemberRussell Eroro seeing off another one of his relatives, this time his brother John. Also saying goodbye to his latest trekker who has come to experience what the Kokoda Track has to offer. He knows that his brother John and Roget will show him a great time out there.

MemberGraham has made excellent progress and if he keeps going the way he is, it will be a 6 day trek not a 9 day one as last night they reached Ioribaiwa Village and Ua'Ule Creek as per plan a)
This morning John called up from Maguli Range saying they were going to head down to Agulogo Campsite to spend the night.

MemberOn the 16th October, Graham along with John and Roget walked off the track into Kokoda and then down to Orohaven Kokoda Retreat where he is presently relaxing before commencing his drive down to Popondetta, one day ahead of schedule.
Last night he slept in this bed.
In another photograph he is seen with the local champ Brendan Buka who hold the Kokoda Track record in both directions. Brendan accompanied Graham to Popondetta and spent the night with him prior to making sure he caught his flight back to Port Moresby.

MemberCan only assume today he is taking a walk around the Kokoda Station area as I was informed he was planning on doing this. Other then that he will relax at Orohaven and drive down to Popondetta tomorrow.
