If anyone is waiting for an update and not yet heard from a member of this group,
I just received a text from Chris and they've reached KOKODA !!
He also said everyone is safe and fit. They're just tired! I'm sure we will get an update
and hopefully some photos real soon. Thanks to the Kokoda Trekking team for keeping
us informed and taking good care of our loved ones.

Congratulations are in order for Trek 625 who walked off the track around 5:30pm this afternoon. A phone call to Kokoda at 7:30pm saw our guide busy collecting uniforms etc as they had not long walked into Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

Another phone call later around 9:15pm saw them all sitting around having just finished 5 cartons of beer. Although I did not ask, I assume lots of pizza's were also consumed.

I could hear music in the background so assume they are in celebration mode!

Well done guys and of course our staff. Wallace commented to me…this is the fastest trek I have ever done and for the first time I felt the 'pain'!!!

Our truck was waiting for them down the bottom of the hill which is commonly referred to as the 'chinaman store' area. No doubt just like when this photograph was taken when a previous trek finished…our driver and friends would have been sitting on the roadside patiently waiting on them to walk down.

Here in PNG people do not look for seats, they just sit anywhere!

A short time later would have found themselves at our base, Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. The photographs below were also taken on previous treks. Tomorrow when our camera arrives in off the track, we will post the trek pics on to the facebook page for you all to view.

I am not too sure which huts have been allocated to our guests, but I can remember being told they were putting five in one hut the the other five in another hut. So tonight you can picture them sleeping on stretcher beds like the ones seen here in the photograph below.

On the property are 4 huts and a flushing toilet which is quite a luxury after being on the track believe me…and a hot shower! Well thats if it is working properly as its operated by gas and it all depends on the water pressure. No doubt they will talk about it tomorrow as to have a hot shower is also considered a luxury after the cold waters of some of the creeks along the track.

Update 14th May: Its 9:35am and the trekkers are just boarding our chartered flight in Kokoda to head back to Port Moresby. They should be back at the Gateway Hotel no later then 10:30am. If you wanted to give them a call to congratulate their achievement, the number is:

0011 675 327 8100 (Gateway Hotel) and then ask for the name of the person you are trying to locate.
