Late yesterday I met up with two couples who flew in a few days ahead of time at the Royal Papua Yacht Club with my son Shane Thomas who is their guide on this trek. We ended up at a chinese restaurant where we enjoyed a meal before returning them to the 'Comfort Inn'.

This morning I had to go to the airport to pick up some trekkers returning from Popondetta and they too had booked to stay at the Comfort Inn. It was then when I dropped off these trekkers that we arranged to pick them up and drive up to Sogeri Lodge via Bomana War Cemetery as they had already booked out of their rooms.

The photographs below were taken at Bomana War Cemetery and again at Sogeri Lodge.

At 1:15pm the other trekkers walking tomorrow were met by Shane and driven to the Airway's Hotel. When I returned from Sogeri, I met with remaining trekkers. Later in the afternoon they were also driven out to Bomana War Cemetery and then on to Sogeri Lodge.

Tomorrow morning we will leave Port Moresby at 6:30 and will drive to Sogeri Lodge to pick up the group and will then head out to Owers' Corner. All going well, their trek should depart around 8:30am.

All trekkers looked excited as they joked around the table at Sogeri.

The road has been graded and it was not too long afterwards that we found ourselves at Owers' Corner. Trekkers were introduced to their respective personal porters who will walk side by side with them during their trek.

The personal porters were in for a thrill as the Meagher family brought with them some football gurnseys and there were SMILES all round as our boys eagerly accepted the gifts of a shirt and cap.

Photographs were taken under the archway and our boys sang the PNG national anthem before trek 607 walked down their first hill heading towards Goldie River.
