MemberUpdate 6th May: Trek 602 has now reached Naduri where they are going to spend the night. According to Shane, Craig is enjoying his birthday! No doubt the boys would have sung Happy Birthday to him today as they have two uke'ule's on the trek with them.
I could not pass on your messages as they are down low and the reception was not very clear. Will do so first chance I get.

MemberUpdate 7th May: I spoke by sat phone today to Shane. He said they had reached Templeton's Crossing where they would spend the night. Everything is going ahead as per schedule. Craig has one more night in the bush before he walks out into Kokoda.
I asked how his birthday went…Shane replied that Craig told him it was one of the best birthday's ever! Apparently he took with him two small bottles of scotch. In one of the villages they bought some coke so I guess he is not doing it too tough out there!
Tomorrow they should get to Isurava but we will just have to wait and see what progress they do. Craig is find the going a bit slow, his fitness however is holding out so no problems whatsoever…no blisters…nothing at this stage which is excellent!

MemberHappy Mothers Day Ma from Craig!
Good News, its congratulation for Craig who walked off the track into Kokoda around 1:30pm today. He is now relaxing and enjoying a few beers with Shane and the porters of this group. Tomorrow they have an early start, as they drive down to Popondetta to catch the flight back to Port Moresby.
I think just like another trek that finished recently, they are no doubt enjoying themselves and celebrating!!!

MemberUpdate 9th May: Trekkers are on their way to Popondetta from Kokoda but the weather has not been kind to them and the first big river is flooded. At 4:30am I received a phone call from Shane saying all vehicles were stuck on the Kokoda side waiting for the river to go down. For someone back home in Australia you might well think that the rivers have flooded over the bridge.
Not so, here in the Oro Province, a cyclone hit in Nov 2007 washing away the majority of bridges. To this date they have not been replaced so vehicle after vehicle has to cross through the river to get to the other side. However, its election time next year so miracles may soon start to happen and we may see improvements if the politicians wish to be voted back in…we will just have to wait and see.
Worst case scenario, Wayne may get to spend a day in Popondetta.
Another phone call now, informs me they have managed to cross the river.

MemberBad News, unfortunately by the time Shane and Craig arrived at the airport they found they had missed the flight as it arrived and departed an hour earlier then their ticket showed. On arrival back in Popondetta, they went to the Airlines PNG office along with several others who missed the same flight to complain. They have been put up at the Comfort Inn waiting for tomorrow's flight back to Port Moresby.
However, it stuffs all Craig's other tickets up. At the moment we are trying to figure out how to get him back to Perth before his flight to Bali on Wednesday.
