Update 2nd Feb: We heard that trekkers spent the night at Eora Creek and today have passed Alola as our other trek behind them just phoned in and and gave us the update per the village grapevine.

Until we hear from Shane, we can only assume they are heading for Isurava Village and will walk off the track tomorrow into Kokoda.

So they are on the home stretch now, and Warren must be starting to feel good that he has almost reached the end of the line being Kokoda.

3rd February: Trekkers earlier decided to walk off the track today but it was not to be as Warren continues to have problems with his feet.

They have now reached Deniki where they are spending the night and will walk off the track tomorrow morning.

Hi Can you please pass this message on to Warren. " I am so proud of you and I can't wait to see you on Friday morning!" Thankyou.

Update 3rd Feb: As I type this, Warren is being carried off the track due the bottoms of his feet. A makeshift bush stretcher was made in Deniki and they commenced walking towards Hoi Village.

Our staff from Kokoda in the meantime had commenced walking at first light towards them with our stretcher bed.

Once they reached Warren they transferred him to the stretcher bed as it was much lighter in weight and they have now reached Kovelo Village.

In the meantime our truck based in Kokoda is making its way as far as it can go towards Kovelo to pick them up and drive them down to Orohaven.

I am sure by the time Warren reaches Orohaven he will have experienced what it must have been like during the war to be carried by the 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels'. Will keep you updated as soon as we hear they have arrived at Orohaven.

Update 10:30am: Congratulations to trek 594 for having reached Kokoda. The group were picked up by our truck on the outskirts of Kovelo and are now at the Kokoda Hospital where they are presently applying a bandage to Warren's foot. Apparently it is only the bottom of one foot not two.

Warren will rest at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat until tomorrow when he will fly back to Port Moresby around 1300 hours.

I have just spoken to him and he is in good spirits and sounded 'very happy' to have finished his trek. He said to tell everyone that he is ok.

If you wanted to phone him the number is listed below:
