    Hi all

Today I did our usual 11 klm Daisy Hill Forest track and thought of you slipping and sliding on Kokoda.

Not far to go now – its gone by so fast reading all the messages and updates – though probably not for you guys.

Congratulations, I hope its been all you hoped for and much more.

    Love June

Good to see you and your team have almost completed your quest.

I hope you're not going to be too tired to study the greyhound form for Thursday night.

Update 24th July: Trekkers have just reached OROHAVEN KOKODA RETREAT, so congratulations to you all for a job well done!

I was just on the phone talking to our driver and could hear all the noise going on in the background so no doubt celebrations are the order of the day!

    Congratulations to all!

You all have every right to be proud of yourselves – all that training and hard work has paid off. It's now time to sit back and take the weight off your feet. We look forward to hearing the stories and seeing the photos when you get back.

    Well done!

Update 28th July: When the trekkers arrived in from their flight yesterday, my son Shane met them and drove them to the Gateway Hotel where they had a booking to overnight. Turns out the Gateway over booked as they were turned away and finally sent to the Ponderosa Hotel for the night. When I went to the Gateway Hotel at 6pm last night I was shocked to find them not there.

At the time the counter of the Gateway was in chaos as it seems several other guests faced a similar headache as the hotel tried their best to sort out the mess they found themselves in.

Further investigation showed they had somehow stuffed up and had trek 590 booked in for Friday and not Wednesday! Then the search began for me. I phoned just about every hotel in Port Moresby I could think of trying to find them. Finally I gave up around 9pm and returned to our base only to find no power as there was a blackout.

This morning I looked up the yellow pages to see if I had missed any hotels and the Ponderosa jumped off the page and bit me. I phoned, and got lucky as they obviously spent the night there.

Later in the morning I caught up with them and it seems they enjoyed the night at the Ponderosa and said they would recommend the hotel to any trekkers who may consider staying there.

Below are some photographs taken in Kokoda that were on a memory card I received today.

A new record was also set on this trek when Sybil Dwyer walked the Kokoda Track with us at 74 years of age. We wish to advise that for Kokoda Trekking Sybil is now our oldest female to have walked with us and we are just so proud to announce this. Sybil will now go in our hall of fame area as the the oldest female trekker beating the previous age of 72. Well done Sybil you are an inspiration to all of us females as you have showed that age is no barrier as long as you have the will and the desire to achieve a dream.

In this photograph with Sybil is Brendan Buka (left) the trek champion who holds the record of 16 hours 34 minutes from Owers' Corner to Kokoda and on her right is Hobert Keke who acted as her personal porter. Hobert is usually known as the practical joker of our boys but on this trek we were informed it was all business and on most days Sybil and Hobert led the way.

The photograph below was taken just before trekkers climbed into my Prado for the drive to the airport from the Ponderosa Hotel.
