Shane met up with Richard a few days back when he arrived from Manila to walk the track. Earlier today Shannon arrived. After a stop over at Bomana War Cemetery they drove off to Owers' Corner where they are spending the night.

Tonight they are enjoying chinese takeaway and a few beers at Owers' before hopefully having a good nights sleep. They will hit the track early tomorrow morning planning to reach Ua'Ule Creek where they will spend the night. Trekkers are made up as follows:

Shane Thomas, Richard Herbert & Shannon Robina.

10th November: The group departed Owers' Corner this morning around 7:30am. Shane called around midday from Imita Ridge saying they were all ok and doing well. Seems Shannon decided to hire a porter from Goodwater. She still thinks she could have done it but wanted to give herself a better chance of completing her trek.

The plan is to spend the night at Ua'Ule Creek campsite area.

14th November: Sorry still having problems with our internet provider so only today able to log on.

The second night trekkers stayed at Naoro Village and the next night was spent at Menari. Yesterday they walked into Efogi where they caught up with our other group that commenced a day later then them.

Last night was spent together with this group at Efogi Village where they bumped into the Kokoda Spirt group and Kurt Fearnley. For those of you who are not familiar with Kurt, this guy is an inspiration to us all. Kurt, a two-time Paralympic champion finishes the year unbeaten in marathons, having won in Seoul, Paris, London, Sydney, Chicago and New York.

Kurt Fearnley is 28 and comes from Newcastle who more recently just won a record fourth successive New York marathon, triumphing in a desperate photo finish from South African veteran Krige Schabort. He is now crawling the Kokoda Trail and has reached the half way point of Efogi.

According to our KTL boys, he is doing well but has a blister on his thumb. He is finding the downhills hard but is coping with conditions and is on target to complete his trek. He has lots of loyal friends and family around him supporting him all the way.

As for our group they are powering along and doing really really well it seems.

The plan for today is to reach 1900 Myola Junction where they will spend the night. Our other group have split and are heading to Templeton's one for the night. Both groups plan to arrive in Kokoda on the 17th November where they will overnight at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

16th November: Trekkers reached Deneki and were planning on stopping the night however Shannon liked the thought of a shower so they decided to push on down to Hoi Village where they met up with our other trek who had arrived there earlier this morning.

Shane mentioned he had run out of cigarettes and was probably hoping he could top up in Kokoda when he found out about the other group sending porters down to buy some sausages at Orohaven for their evening meal.

The last I heard was that they too decided to do likewise and the last time I spoke to him, they were waiting on the boys to return so they too could cook up something different for their evening meal.

Tomorrow they will walk off the track into Kokoda the finish line and will head down to our base their at Orohave Kokoda Retreat for no doubt a good rest after their successful trek.

If they follow tradition they will dress up trekkers before they walk off the track.

17th November: We congratulate trek 589 who walked off the track today and arrived at Orohaven mid morning.

Today they have just been sitting around cleaning their gear and mixing with other trekkers at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

This afternoon I spoke to Shannon who mentioned pizza was on the menu tonight and that being part Italian she should know how to make them.

The last I heard however, was that trekkers were relaxing under the tents and our staff were preparing some pizza's for their enjoyment.

Tomorrow morning we have organised a charter to pick them up which should leave here around 9am and be back in Port Moresby by 10am.

18th November: Richard and Shannon arrived in off the track as planned and looked happy and contented about their Kokoda experience.

Richard caught a flight to Manila and Shannon boarded a flight back home to Australia.

On arrival I met up with them and took the photograph below. I also drove them around Port Moresby before dropping them at the Airways Hotel to enjoy a meal or just to relax before they returned to the airport to catch their respective flights.

    Shane remained at Orohaven.

On behalf of Kokoda Trekking I would like to them you both for choosing to walk with us and my son Shane.

We trust you have lots of happy memories of your time on the track and the pizza's at the finish in Kokoda.

By the time you read this you will no doubt be back home to where you were both heading and trust that you had a safe journey.

    bye for now
