Boss Meri
MemberAfter a few weeks of not having any trekkers on the track, (whilst we had a good break and were able to pop over to Kokoda to do some work at 'Orohaven') its nice to once again welcome to PNG another group to walk the track.
This morning the following trekkers were picked up from the Gateway Hotel at 7am to be driven out to Bomana War Cemetery. Most trekkers spend about an hour there before continuing their journey by motor vehicle to Owers' Corner. Today as its a small group they are travelling out in my Toyota Prado which should be a comfortable ride for them. On this trek we have two people all the way from Canada which is a FIRST for us. We have had a few from America, but from Canada I have been thinking really hard, but cannot think of anyone from that country who has walked with us.

MemberHi Gail
Was wondering if your communications were down as we have not heard how this group are progressing which is unusual.

MemberHi Brian and others interested,
I have been talking to Gail on the telephone and confirm she has had very bad internet connections this past few days.
It is an IP problem beyond her control and thus she is unable to do any posting until this is resolved…
Cheers

MemberThe other post worked so here I am again to post while I can before it goes down AGAIN.
Trekkers are now on their way to Kokoda having passed Efogi and last night being at 1900. We have not heard from the track today as they are down low but we are assuming they are somewhere around Templeton's area and tomorrow should be at Eora Creek.

MemberJohn Derick called up today from Isurava Village saying they are ahead of schedule and that last night they slept at Eora Creek. He mentioned that tonight they will stop at Deniki Village and walk off the track tomorrow into Kokoda.
They are not due to fly back to Port Moresby until Tuesday so apparently have agreed with John and the boys to take another walk around Kokoda and surrounding areas possibly walking up and back to the crash site.

Member9th November: Trekkers came in from Kokoda today instead of tomorrow due to the airline contacting us at 8:40am this morning to say the flight on the 10th had been cancelled.
Another panic phone call managed to bring forward to charter to today. Turned out one of their aircraft had to go to Cairns for some repair work and their other two were already committed for the 10th.
We met with the trekkers and they all enjoyed their trek and each others company. We will catch up with them again tomorrow when we take them for a drive around Port Moresby.

MemberAs promised a little after 2pm I met with this group and took them for a drive around Port Moresby. They seem to enjoy looking at the sights and several photographs were taken by them and two by ourselves which I will now post.
The first photograph was taken on top of a mountain overlooking the coastline and Ela Beach. The second photograph was taken outside parliament house.

MemberBefore heading back to their hotel, I had to meet up with two Americans who this morning flew into Popondetta to walk from Oro Bay all the way to Port Moresby. As Natasha, Dieter, Bruce & Esther were in the car with me they too got to meet them. I cannot speak on their behalf but for myself just reading about this guy Erden Eruc, makes walking the track sound easy when you can stay on the water in a rowing boat for 312 days!
Perhaps when they arrive back home they will be following his progress as Erden intends to post from the track itself plus photographs bringing modern day IT to the Kokoda Track.
