MemberUpdate 17th June: We heard from the track they reached the destination as planned of Templeton's Crossing yesterday. Today their target is Isurava Village.
Yes, Gary is celebrating his birthday today, no doubt the boys have already sung HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him.
Have heard that trekkers are enjoying a game of cards that the boys have taught them called 'Last Card'.
Lots of fun out there I believe, so way to GO, trek 579 you are now heading for home being KOKODA.

MemberSorry, I have not been able to post any photographs as every time I try I get the following message:
Attachment space used 488.28mb of 488.28mb
I have to wait for my son Shane to come off the track or my other son Nathan in Australia to fix the problem.

Member18th June: Have just spoken to Wallace and Gary….they are at Deniki and excited to seen Kokoda in the distance and to know they will have successfully completed their trek.
They hope to walk out into the small town of Kokoda Station around 1pm today. Our truck will be waiting for them to drive the group to Orohaven Kokoda Retreat. Its a relative short flat area to walk down but we are going to spoil them today and pick them up in our truck.
On arrival in Kokoda I will update the website to show they have reached their destination so stay tuned later on today for another update.
Yesterday they held a service at Isurava Memorial area which I believe was quite an emotional experience. Gary just echoed what all our trekkers say, Gail your boys are awesome, a real credit to the company.
PS I read out all your birthday wishes and Gary was stoked to hear them.

MemberSorry could not post yesterday as the internet was down. Trekkers reached Orohaven yesterday and last enjoyed several pizza's and beer before turning in.
Early this morning they drove down to Popondetta to catch their flight back into Port Moresby. As I type this they are at Guria airport waiting to board their flight to Port Moresby.
Arrival time in Port Moresby should be around 11am.

MemberHi everyone, trekkers are now relaxing at the Gateway Hotel. In fact Gary just phoned me to ask for another t/shirt. He was a little nervous when he headed out thanks to the teasing from his son and nephew but today looked the picture of satisfaction to have completed the track.
As for the others, good news, some of them want to come and do it all over again one day! Gary stated he has another son who he thinks should do the trek.
In fact it was great to meet them and to hear their stories as we drove around Port Moresby today. No doubt when they get back home they all have something to talk about.
bye for now, my pleasure to keep you posted. I am sorry however, that I cannot post any photographs due to my computer problem to show you there whereabouts on the track.
