Boss Meri
MemberAbout now John decided he wanted a photograph taken under the archway with his personal porter Salvador Lelewa who is actually a guide but this time round walking as a porter.

MemberHad to laugh at this photograph of Bill Harike dwarfed by his trekkers. Someone yelled out…you both should be carrying HIM…
Bill is one of our more regular porters so am sure they will be well taken care of walking alongside him.
It looks very much to me as if the two trekkers shared the load between them and gave the leftovers to Bill to carry, nice gesture. Assume they want the challenge and at the same time give back to the community by hiring a porter. Noticed the red shirt had triathlon written on it so perhaps these guys are FIT trekkers and Bill might have to race to keep up…haha

MemberWe did not hear from them yesterday but the plan was to head to Ua'Ule creek guesthouse area to spend the night.
Being school holidays, there are lots of treks on the go so quite a bit of traffic on the track at this point of time from both directions.

Trek #543 is doing ok even though it is raining. Wallace radioed in from Ofi (he had a Porter holding a cover over him whilst talking on the 2-way radio) that all trekkers are fine with the Porters and Guides. One of the trekkers is struggling alittle bit but they should be able to reach their destination at Naoro where they will overnight.
Last night was spent at Ua-ule Creek.

Member23rd September Up date: Trekkers have now reached Efogi with the exception of Greg May who has decided to call it quits in Manari due to sore knees. He will rest there and will be picked up on Friday and be returned to Port Moresby.
All others are doing well and must be pretty proud of themselves having reached the half way point.
From tomorrow onwards, they will be heading mainly downhill on their way to the Kokoda Gap where they will get their first glance of Kokoda and their final destination.
When I was talking to Wallace Lemeki this afternoon he was waiting at Efogi lookout for trekkers to head down from Brigade Hill one of the most sacred sites on the track.
