Earlier today we said goodbye to our latest group of trekkers to head out on the Kokoda Track. All went ahead as planned when we headed off from the Gateway Hotel around 7am and popped in to Bomana War Cemetery on the way out of town. Trekkers in this group include :

Chris Norris; Adam Marsh; Neil Gardner; James French; John & Dianne Shepherdson

Could you please pass on a big 'Your not fist-worthy Norris!!!' to my awesome brother Chris, as he went weak and got a porter despite his brothers advice (well, not really – I talked him into it). You won't regret it Bro!

Best of luck to you all and if you see a fellow trekker called Neil coming from the other direction please feel free to knuckle him in the ribs from me. I'd give you his last name but it seems funnier to canvas any guy called Neil smile.gif

    Good luck guys!

Chuck (the younger, better looking one)

On the way up to Sogeri we stopped briefly so trekkers could stretch their legs and enjoy the view:

The guide on this trek is Tony Ogonemi. There are also two other guides walking on this trek, Arnold Jinga and Harold Hauro who are acting as personal porters.

To Jim, Adam, Neil and Chris. Good luck boys, enjoy the experience. By the way, did you get a bulk discount for those shirts?

Trek #537 radioed in from Menari where they took a break to have their lunch. All are doing fine except for a trekker who is struggling alittle bit but should be able to reach their next destination, which is Efogi, where they will overnight.

    Adam and Neil
Thought you would like to know that Geelong and St Kilda made it to the GF (Adam – GF means Grand Final)
Gary Ablett won the Brownlow medal. (Adam – Brownlow medal is the Fairest and Best in the AFL from rounds 1 – 22)
Neil if Adam has trouble comprehending the above please explain.
Neil looking at the photo's we noticed you don't look in the best shape. Maybe you need to have a lie down at the next smoko break.
Hope all is well boy's have a good time. Will post tomorrow

23rd Sept Update: John decided to call it quits today and was air lifted out of Manari. He is now resting at the comfort inn in Port Moresby. Diane is powering along trying to catch the others who spent the night at Efogi. They will be staying at 1900 Myola Junction so she has some catching up to do but should be able to reach them by the end of the day.

As for the others in this group they are all doing fine as I was talking to Tony at Efogi this morning organising the air lift and he said they were all waiting there to hear from our other guide Harold who had spent the night at Manari with John and Diane before they moved on.

Once they heard what was happening they walked off and by now should be resting at Myola Junction.

Hi Daddy, it is nice seeing photos of you. Hope you're having fun.

Mummy says to enjoy your holiday 'cos she has lots for you to do when you get back after your restful 10 days away. She said you get to go on nice long leisurely walks every day.

See ya soon – I miss your tickles and riding on your shoulders.
    Love Alex xox
