MemberTrek 536 flew into Kokoda around 8am this morning and decided to commence walking upon their arrival thus avoiding the overnight in Kokoda. The photograph below was taken shortly before their flight departed from Port Moresby.
List include :
John Hayden; Lex Van Saane; Anthony Bennett; Barry Walsh and Bryan Winkleman

MemberGail, I was just wondering how John Hayden's Trek were going. John is a friend from Colac. You have not posted any progress for them since they left Kokoda.
Thanks,

Trek 536 arrived at Brigade Hill to let us know that they would spend the night at Menari. The trekkers and porters are all doing fine.
The trekkers' request was for us to update them on the AFL games played in Melbourne over the weekend, so we are waiting for their next sat phone call to update them.

Harold rang from Maguli range on their way to Ofi Creek where they will take a break for lunch. They will then head for Ioari Baiwa where they will over night.
All the doing fine.
The update of AFL was not given to the trekkers yet because the draw was not on hand, but we will make sure that we get the details when they next ring in.

I just got off the sat phone with John Hayden. They rang in from Ioribaiwa Ridge where they will spend their 2nd last night, before heading to Goldie River for their last night.
I gave John the results of the AFL Games played over the weekend between Collingwood and Adelaide, which Collingwood won and the game between Western Bulldogs and Brisbane Lions which Western Bulldogs won. He appreciated the updates given to him.
Otherwise, they are all doing ok and looking forward to coming to Port Moresby to be part of the 34 Years of Independence celebrations on the 16th September.

Good morning Georgina, Paula and Jenny,
No call has come through yet from the Team on the track. As soon as we hear from them, I will relay your messages.
Tonight is going to be their last sleep, I'm sure they are all looking forward to finishing their trek in a feeling of accomplishment, and of course being able to talk to their loved ones back home too.

MemberHi everyone,
I was also disappointed that there were no regular updates, so it is great to hear that the trek is going well.
I can't beieve that it is almost over – they have been preparing for so long.
Everyone here is well & we had a wonderful weekend with Kate here as well.
Lex will be delighted that the Sainters are still in there.
Cheers,

MemberLinda, I am presently in Australia having come down for my son's wedding last Saturday which is why there is not so many up dates and photographs being posted. I return to PNG this coming Friday.
I have been keeping in touch with my office and have been informed that trekkers will walk off the track tomorrow and that they will be picked up from Owers' Corner in the morning. It appears they have all done well based on the reports I am hearing from down here.

Member15th September: Have just been on the phone with Russell in Port Moresby and he has advised that they have reached Goldie River where they will be spending the night. Tomorrow morning they have asked for an early pickup at Owers' Corner as they want to arrive back in Port Moresby to have a look around before heading back home.
PNG is celebrating their independence tomorrow so there should be the Hiri Moale Festival on at Ela Beach all going well that they can have a look at after they arrive back in town.
