Boss Meri
Member24th August: Trekkers have now reached Agulogo where they are spending the night. Once again Eddie is coming up the rear and tonight I spoke to him via sat phone. I asked how he was and he replied that he was ok, just taking it easy as he wanted to finish his trek.
This was after 7pm when I returned home from a briefing of a group heading out tomorrow from Owers' Corner. He sound full of spirit especially when I informed him that people on this forum were pulling for him.
He was full of praise for our KTL staff and I could sense really looking forward to completing his trek.
GO EDDIE, you are past the half way point and heading for home – in this case the arch at Owers' Corner.

MemberUpdate 25th August: Kingsley called in by sat phone earlier today saying they were at Maguli Range and were heading down to Ioribaiwa where they planned on spending the night. No change the others are way out in front and Eddie is coming up the rear.
Last night apparently Eddie got into Agulogo around midnight but is hanging in there and the way he is going will definitely walk off the track at Owers' Corner on the 27th.

MemberToday the group are heading for Goldie River according to our guide Kingsley yesterday as we have not heard from them today.
They may have rang today but we have been out since 1pm at the funeral of Russell's brother Kingsley Eroro and only just walked back in the house.
We are expecting the lead group up at Owers' Corner around 9:30am tomorrow or even earlier depending on the time they have decided to wake up, get organised and walk up their last hill.
When we dropped off trekkers yesterday the road to Owers' Corner was dry and really good. I remains to be seen what it will be like when the rain starts falling again.

MemberCongratulations are in order for trek 532 as they arrived up at Owers' Corner around 8am this morning. Eddie was the first person up the hill so I am led to believe, so YES, he finished his trek and does'nt he look so pleased with himself.
All other trekkers in this group were all smiles as well when I met up with them this morning at Owers' Cnr. At the moment as I type this they are all sitting around enjoying a drink and some pizza with their guide and porters.
All remarked how our boys were just fantastic. Wayne joked that he told Eddie, I am used to walking 8-9 hours at the most per day, this trek was a 24 hour trek. You would have to know Wayne to know he is a practical joker.
Jokes aside, a special thank you to Kingsley, Stafford and Wayne Urina and all the others boys in this group for getting everyone from Kokoda to Owers' but a special thank you to the three boys who stayed with Eddie all the way and allowed him to complete his dream of walking the Kokoda Track.
Wayne informed me the guide of Adventure Kokoda asked for his name so perhaps he too saw the efforts of him in getting Eddie to Owers' Corner.

MemberOn the way back from Owers' Corner we went in to the Bomana War Cemetery before heading to the Gateway Hotel where we dropped off four of the trekkers. Two other in this group were dropped at the Airways Hotel.

MemberOn behalf of Kokoda Trekking, we would like to thank you for choosing to walk with us and our KTL boys. All staff commented how much they enjoyed their trek and it was good to hear your comments and to know you too enjoyed their company. Take care, please take home many happy memories of the track.
Lets not forget Eddie getting booked today for not wearing his seat belt!
