Today we said goodbye to an ex trekker by the name of Lloyd Love along with two women, one from France and the other from Hong Kong. For awhile Lloyd would have thought he was going to be walking by himself but at the last minute the two young girls decided to join this trek.
Trekkers in this group are:

We left the Gateway Hotel around 7:30am and headed off to Sogeri where trekkers stopped for a break which provided the first photo opportunity:
As the road was dry today, not so long after we arrived at McDonald's Corner:
IMGP0184.jpgApproximately a little after 9am we arrived at Owers' Corner and met up with Soc Kienzle and a guy by the name of Volker along with five porters and guides who walked the track with them.
Not so long afterwards our group headed off down their first descent on their way to Kokoda from Owers' Corner some 96km away.

IMGP0190.jpgSorry, no regular up dates as the track radio network remains down and we have to rely on sat phone calls from our guide. Today, we received such a phone call advising that they had reached Manari.
He added that Lloyd had decided to call it quits due to a hip problem and requires an air lift tomorrow.
The two women however, are doing just fine and tonight should have reached the half way point of Efogi where they are spending the night.
D4_GOOD_VIEW__Small_.JPGCongratulations to the two young women who arrived back in from Kokoda earlier today as they completed their trek and appeared very excited when I met up with them.
Apparently they arrived in Kokoda around 11am yesterday and spent the night at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.
