    Hi Wayne,

We're thinking of you all the way in Glasgow, Scotland! Hope your knee is alright and the trek isn't too hard. Although Diane says the trek between Kirkintilloch and Chryston in Scottish weather is MUCH harder. lol!
Wishing all your fellow trekkers well. Hope you've got a hip-flask of whisky with you. lol!

Looking forward to seeing you in 83 days time, save us some hugs!
Haste ye Back! (Safe trip home in Scots slang) 😉

Lots of Scottish and Aussie Love,

    Diane and Ben xxx

1st October: Congratulations must go to Trek 523 as they walked off the track one day early today and are now relaxing at our base in Kokoda, Orohaven Kokoda Retreat.

The last I heard from my son Shane was that they were sitting around enjoying a few beers!

After initial suspicions from decoded satellite images, it has been confirmed by our agent in Brisbane that a Newcastle East Public School Hat has just traversed the Kokoda trail for the first time in history. We have the photo to prove it. Another triumph for NEPS! Expect a telegram from John Beach after the holidays, SD.
Well done all, hats and humans.

3rd October: I heard from my son Shane in Kokoda that yesterday trekkers walked around with their porters and visited their homes.

Apparently it started to rain mid afternoon so they may have got wet returning to our base.

As I type this, we are preparing for the flight to Kokoda that will head out around 9:30am to pick them up and bring them back into Port Moresby. The flight takes approximately 25 minutes. Trekkers often comment such a quick flight but such a hard slog to walk the track by comparison.

What the way my son spoke, they all enjoyed their trek and the hospitality shown to them in Kokoda. Not long now and you will hear about all their stories when they return home.

    To Chris and Sam,

Congratulations on your successful completion of the trek. Trusting that other things were discovered in the process.

Sam-The-Man, you should feel proud of a job well done.

    regards,

At 1pm I went to the Gateway Hotel swimming pool where I had arranged previously to meet with some of the people who arrived in from Kokoda earlier today.

I will post their photographs here for you to see they arrived back in ok and looking quite happy with their achievements.

The father/son and friend were already in swimming mode:

One of the guys was worried he would not catch his flight back to Australia and looked relieved when he was dropped at the airport to book in.
