MemberAnzac Day 25th April: It was an early start for one trekker who was up at 4am to head out to Bomana War Cemetery for the dawn service. The other trekker decided to stay at the hotel and have a sleep in. Around 10am they were collected from their hotel 'Holiday Inn' and driven out to the starting point. Unfortunately due to the weather and the road conditions, trekkers were dropped off at Vesulogo. As you can see from the photograph below, buses were getting bogged this morning as well as most who went out for the pick up of trekkers on the 24th. Apparently there were several trekking companies who got stuck and had to walk out to Sogeri due to their pick up vehicles getting bogged.
Trekkers in this group include :
Larry Jones & Brian Rafferty

Member28th April: We heard from the track today that trekkers were on the move towards Myola Junction/1900 area where they would spend the night. Another group passed them today and said one guy was ahead of his mate whilst in the midst of walking up a hill but that both trekkers were ok with no worries which is good news for us as they are now heading for the finish line, being Kokoda!

Member30th April: We have not heard from Trek 496 today as they are down quite low and radio coverage is not real in that area however we suspect they are spending the night at Eora Creek. Tomorrow we should hear from them as they climb up to Alola village and then down to Isurava Village. If there were any problems I am sure they would have contacted us by sat phone.

Member1st May: Trek 496 walked off the track today. Unfortunately one of the guys was suffering very badly from blisters on his feet so progress was slow. However we heard this afternoon that the group have made it to our base in Kokoda 'Orohaven Kokoda Retreat' where they will rest until Sunday when they will board their flight to Port Moresby.

MemberCongratulations Trek 496 as you made it to Kokoda one day earlier than expected. If they were feeling up to it, no doubt they might celebrate this afternoon with a few SP's and some Pizza's

Member3rd May: Trekkers arrived back in out of Kokoda today aboard our chartered aircraft and arrived approximately 10am. They both seemed very happy to have completed their trek. One guy was suffering from some blisters but appeared in good spirits and was not complaining too much. He said he was able to get some medicine from the Kokoda hospital which had helped settle down the infection.
