Member23rd April: Wallace radioed in this morning at 10:30am from Imita Ridge. They will have both breakfast and lunch at Goodwater, before heading for Goldie where they will spend their last night. The next morning, they will come out of Owers Corner and keep walking to Vasilego, where they will be picked up in our 4 wheel drive. The road to Owers Corner is bad due to the continuous rain.
Steve and Matt are slow because of their injuries. Wallace asked them if they would like to be uplifted home, but they refused. They insisted on finishing their trek so Wallace exchanged Porters and made them Personal Porters so that Steve and Matt finish their trek in good care.
Emma and Chris Beaufort will be flying out of the country the same day.
We hope to see them all tomorrow.

MemberHi Lara and Jason,
The wet, the mud and the beasties… all good fun. Been hearing the drama from some Treks, and it seems that you have had your share as well. Not long to go and Owens Corner will seem a Paradise. Have a safe drive out and enjoy the ANZAC Service on Saturday morning. We have had rain here in Adelaide, the first wet for the year. We are all ok, looking forward to hearing the 'war stories'. All the SA mob are following your journey. Mike & Mary are around Friday night for Pizza and cards, just like the 'old days'.
Love from Mum, Dad and Freckles xoxo
PS Spoke with Kerry tonight, they are all well in the wet cold SW.

MemberHi Scott
Lonely without you and missing you heaps (have resisted the urge to go out and buy a dog though), I'm really proud of you honey and can't wait to hear all about your adventure. Hope you are well and the trek is living up to your expectations. Thinking of you and can't wait to see you again.
It's been colder here both during the day and at night the past few days.
Love you heaps
TrinaPS: Are you catching a cab back from the airport???

Member24th April: As planned trekkers will be picked up today as they have completed their walk and sent through a message yesterday that they would be up around 9am.
Unfortunately the road was quite slippery yesterday so we asked them to continue walking towards Vesulogo a small village further down the road just in case we cannot reach them. With this road you never can tell. If its not been raining we can get all the way down to Owers' but even a small amount of rain turns it into a fun 4wd experience.

Goldie River where they would have camped last night and no doubt took the opportunity to clean their gear.
Message received from Sandra, on behalf of all of us at KTL, thanks for your email.
Dear Gail, Russell, Wallace and all the boys,
I just wanted to say thankyou for the amazing experience I had on the track. I am so pleased I trekked with you, speaking to fellow trekkers along the track from different companies, I feel I was with the best company which also suited me .
Firstly I preferred that I was able to carry my own gear.At the end of the many hard days, my own small comforts and belongings were important. Before I had considered setting anything up,my porter was there to help. All the boys were there when any of us needed a hand, whether we hired a porter or not. My porter, Alex was always by my side and I enjoyed the fun and silly times with him and all the other boys on the track. They made me feel welcome and safe.
The fact that we could also go at our own pace was unreal because it meant I could stop to rest or ask questions about the landscape or wildlife at anytime. I felt I got the most out of my time.
I would also like to thank you on your local knowledge on how the road out of Owens Cnr reacts to heavy rain. having to walk hours along a dirt track or to camp on the side of the road because my bus was bogged would have crushed me and I would not have been a pleasent person to be around. You picked us up in you 4WD and got us out comfortably to continue our adventures.
Thankyou, I'll be sure to walk with you again.
Sandy

MemberThankyou Boss Meri for keeping us informed to Mike's (Taft) progress (ie.the trek's progress) during a busy week on the Trail. We of course had a heightened apprehension due to the tragic report of 2 deaths. It was a great comfort for me (the mother) to go to your webpage & read updates & very glad he was not mentioned in dispatches!
Warm regards
Sue Laura Lewis & AerEditor's Note: thanks for the nice comments. I too am a mum and can relate to everyone back home which is why I try and post something whenever I hear from the track. You must be proud of Mike as he completed his trek and is a really nice guy from what I had to do with him. No doubt you will get to see the track as I was led to believe he has taken footage and taped music so not doubt will put a DVD together.
