Trekkers were picked up from the Gateway Hotel around 6:45 and driven down to Tropic Air to board their flight to Kokoda. All went according to plan and the flight took off around 7:45 and they landed in Kokoda approximately 20 minutes later.

As you can see in the photograph below, they all looked happy and excited as they waited for their flight.

After a relaxing day in Kokoda they would have slept the night in one of our huts at Orohaven Kokoda Retreat and no doubt would have enjoyed a pizza cooked by our new chef Fred who would have been run off his feet as another trek arrived off the track one day early so he would have been catering for 17 trekkers plus staff last night.

This morning they will beging their walk up to Isurava Memorial where tomorrow they will attend the Anzac Day service at Isurava.

    Hi Guys,

So your adventure begins! Sounds like today will be tough going as you make your way up to Isurava. Enjoy the challenge, have fun and most importantly of all look after yourselves – the media reports of late mean that we are all just a little bit anxious for you.

    Will follow your progress closely.

    Lots of Love

ps: enjoy the service tomorrow and Chris you would be proud of me – I got my first toad last night – but very much looking forward to your return as I never want to do it again!!

    Hi Guys,
Well – finally on your way! I hope you are all feeling fit and confident. I am trying to keep my eye on the younger brother back home – that in itself is a challenge! Have promised meatloaf to one stay-at-home partner to keep the nourishment up at this end. For the gardners – finally had rain in Adelaide – very welcome. Stay safe lots of love…. cool.gif

Anzac Day 25th April: It seems we have some very fast trekkers out there according to their guide Harold Hauro as they made a fast pace today. At 4am they were away bright and early from Isurava Village in time to attend the Anzac Day service at Isurava Memorial Monument area. According to what I heard today, they arrived just in time as the service was starting, stayed awhile, had a look around and then moved off towards Eora Creek.

According to Harold they reached Eora Creek around 1pm. Perhaps he will have to put the brakes on them otherwise they may finish earlier than expected at Owers' Corner.

Hi guys. Hope all is well. We are very proud of you all. If you keep going the way you are you will finish the trek too early. The dogs are eating, Rae is making me meatloaf and chocalate cake and the strippers have left. Be strong and have fun

26th April: Have just heard from the track that trekkers have now reached 1900 campsite area where they will spend the night.

All trekkers continue to do ok and tomorrow will head off to Efogi where they will reach the half way point.

Paulo, their assistant guide said they are sharing the campsite with three other trekking companies but all managing to fit in ok.
