Trek guide reported via HF Radio today 11.15lt that all trekkers are fine except for few trekkers having heat rashes. There was no rain since they started. They are currently at Brigade Hill and will be camping at Efogi tonight. update by francis geheso for boss meri. Attached are pictures of brigade hill and efogi.

Go Maurs, we are so proud of you!! Thinking of you and all on Trek 472. Keep walking and look forward to hearing all about it soon!! The photos are amazing and the scenery looks just beautiful. Makes you proud to be Australian when you think of what our army had to endure. Lots of love H. xxx

Update 15th August: Did we say NO RAIN….well the clouds opened up yesterday and its WET WET WET !!! Apparently yesterday they had to walk most of the day in the rain and the track was quite wet and muddy.

Arnold just contacted us now from Alola Village 10am. They are having a short break before heading down to the Isurava Monument area.

Plan a) is to reach Deneki where they will spend the night. Plan b) is Isurava Village.

Update 6:15pm 15th August: Have just heard from Arnold that they have reached Deniki where they will spend the night.

He tried to get a message out in relation to Maureen but the radio went dead! So sorry, have no idea what he was about to tell me.

No doubt she is trying to let you all know that she is thinking of you and by now should be feeling pretty damn proud of herself!

Update 16th August: Trekkers along with our porters and guide Arnold walked out into Kokoda today so CONGRATULATIONS to trek 472 for having successfully completed your trek.

Arnold called up around 9am this morning to say there were already at the Kokoda Station area. They then planned on heading down to 'OroHaven Kokoda Retreat' where they will spend tonight before travelling back into Port Moresby tomorrow.

    Photographs:

Pic 1: Monument area Kokoda Station
Pic 2: How they would have looked walking into Kokoda off the track earlier this morning
Pic 3: Perhaps they may have posed for a pic the same as these ex trekkers

We have heard they have been welcomed by a sing sing (traditional dancers) in Kokoda and that they are now relaxing at our camp which was given a name this week,

    'OroHaven Kokoda Retreat'

A bit early for a beer or two but I am sure they will fit it in sometime today! Just like this other group of trekkers sitting around the dining room area of our camp they may like to learn how to play the uke'ule.

Tomorrow they will depart from the Kokoda airport terminal area aboard our chartered flight back into Port Moresby and should arrive before midday.

Take a look at the changes we made last year when we took on trying to give a better image to trekkers who arrive and depart from Kokoda.

    Photographs:

Pic 1: The terminal building the first time I laid my eyes on it. Originally built by Rotary International.
Pic 2 & 3: Slowly the walls disappeared
Pic 4: Then the seats so passengers had to sit on the steel posts that used to hold up the seats
    Pic 5: Work began
    Pic 6: The end result

Congratulations to Maureen and all on Trek 472!

Maus – can't wait to hear 1st hand from you about your gutsy venture along the Kokoda trail. I guess by now you will be raising your glass to celebrate the end of what will obviously be an experience you won't forget and also raise your glass in memory of your mum's birthday, she would have been so proud! xx

Update 17th August – 3:30pm: Trekkers are all safely back in Port Moresby so congratulations must go to all trekkers for successfully completing their trek with no problems whatsoever.

All trekkers looked well and were really excited about their trek when I met up with them earlier today. As we have a really busy schedule today, we decided to hand out their certificates and t/shirts at the airport as some were heading back this afternoon and I was not sure if we would have had time to make it back to the Gateway Hotel before 6pm.

We would like to share with you some of the photographs taken this afternoon as follows:
