Boss Meri
MemberLast night we met up with Geoff Carter an ex trekker who returned to walk with us again and brought along for the fun, a couple of cousins and some other friends. As they say in PNG, quite a lot of this group are my wantoks as they hail from the Gold Coast. Two are from South Australia and two outsiders who had not met anyone in this group before last night.
Most are retirees who are members of a bush walking club on the Gold Coast.
Trekkers include :
Geoff Carter; Allen Travers; Ian Travers; Maurie Hansell; Allison Colebrook; Gloria Mack; Ian Carter; Anne Cheung; Astrid Underdahl; Michelle Haydon; Gary Bell and Robyn Nutley

MemberAfter leaving Bomana War Cemetery trekkers headed off to Sogeri Monument area where they stopped and checked out the monuments there. Here in this photograph they can be seen about to climb aboard our truck to head out to Owers' Corner on the dirt road that awaited them.

MemberIntroducing their guide Ernst Jinga:

MemberToday they decided on a short walk down to Goldie River as Allison Colebrook was feeling a bit dizzy and was a bit undecided as to whether to commence here walk or turn back. After lying down a bit, Alison decided to head down with her friends and to give it a go.
After discussing with Geoff their trek leader and an experienced bush walker he agreed to see how she would go. After she has time to rest today and hopefully a good sleep tonight, she may wake up tomorrow and feel good and push on with the rest of the group.
Otherwise she will turn back and come back in with our vehicle when they drop off another group of three heading out tomorrow morning from Owers' Corner.

MemberThanks so much for putting up details of Trek 465. My partner, Ian Carter, was in several of your photos (he is the one with the beard). I will be watching these forums closely so that I can keep track of how he is going.

Kerry

MemberOur guide has not called in but we have heard from another trek that all are going really well and that Allison is out in front so all well on that front as well which is good news for us.
We have them around Agulogo/Menari area at the moment. If there were any problems Ernst would have informed us so at this point no news is good news!

MemberThanks Boss
I have been keen to know how they were going. Good to hear about Allison – she is the cousin of my partner Ian.
It is also nice to know where they expect to camp tonight as I can look it up on the map.

Kerry
