Trek 450 were picked up this morning from the Gateway Hotel and driven down to Tropic Air's terminal building for a 7:30 am departure. Unfortunately they boarded their flight and their was a minor hickup and they were all returned to the departure area.

A short time later they boarded again and headed off to Kokoda. They will rest there today and have a look around and overnight. Tomorrow morning they will commence walking to Isurava Village. Trekkers included:

Neil MacLaren; Leon MacLaren; David Stuckey; Andrew Page; Michelle Conway; Paul Vyverberg; Rob Weston; Ashley McKenzie and Dave Loftus

Update 21st March: We heard from our guide David Embo Clark today at Alola Village area. He said last night they overnighted at Isurava Village. Everyone is doing just fine so no worries for the present time.

When I spoke to them they had not long walked from Isurava Monument area and were having something to eat before heading to Eora Creek were they planned on spending the night.

Update 2:25pm: Have just heard from David Clark Embo that they have all successfully reached Mt Bellamy the highest point on the track. Michelle has been vomiting but is still not letting go of her pack it seems despite the boys offering to help.

Its downhill now to the Myola Junction campsite.

Update 23rd March: Congratulations, trekkers have made it to the half way point of Efogi where they will relax tonight after a hard days walk. This is where we fill up on our half way food that was flown in last Friday. Landy Noel's family who own the guesthouse always go the extra yard and will make them feel really welcome.

Unfortunately some jealous soul decided to burn down one of his guesthouse so has been forced to build a brand new one for the upcoming Anzac treks in a couple of weeks. He assured me the dining room was finished and that the other guesthouse would cater for trekkers so they still should be in relative comfort compared to other campsites along the track.

Thanks ever so much for the kind words re our website. As far as I am aware we are the only trekking company that offer live updates as we are in constant radio contact every day we have trekkers on the track.

Its also great to see that you have taken the time to post. As soon as they radio in tomorrow I will read out your message so check back tomorrow as there could be a reply for you to read.

Update 24th March 8:30am: David just radioed in from Brigade Hill saying they had reached there and were having a break before heading down to Agulogo where they planned on spending the night.

    Three messages from the track:

Message 1: Michelle said thanks for your message and I think she was so shocked she was lost for words. She did manage to get out, feeling a lot better today and hope to keep doing well.

Our guide said some of the boys have shared some of her pack around amongst them to lighten her load and now she is ahead of them.

Message 2: from Neil to his wife and family. Dad says Hi and Happy Birthday from the Kokoda Trail.

Message 3: To Judy, Happy Birthday, thinking of you. Hi to Oscar and Lucy from PNG, love Andrew

Hello to all in Trek 450 !! Congratulations you're nearly there! Enjoy your last day together and our very best wishes for a safe trip home.

Paully and Michelle, lots of love and hugs from all of us!!

Once again … our thanks for this amazing website, it's been our way of keeping in touch and sharing, in the tiniest way, some of the dream of our own children and their fellow trekkers…

Take care … Rosie, Pete and all the gang.

Update 27th March: Trekkers decided to come out a day early rather than overnight at Goldie River. As a result they were all picked up around 4pm 26th March from Owers' Corner and arrived at the Gateway Hotel around 7:30pm.

At 9pm they wanted to meet up with their porters and have a meal at the Yacht Club. Unfortunately the trekkers were turned away from the their due to dress code and we all ended up at the Crowne Plaza at 9:30-10pm.

A meal was enjoyed by all and we all departed around midnight.

All trekkers seemed happy with their trek and the way our KTL boys looked after them.

Thanks trek 450 for choosing to trek with us.

Photographs: – apologise for the quality as the lights were not kind to us.
