Sorry, these photographs are not 'live' but from my database of previous treks. PNG is not that far advanced with technology! Will endeavour to get more pics of the group when they arrive up at Owers' Corner. By then they should have grown some beard and look a little rough around the edges so stay tuned.

    Hi David,

The photos look great and hope you are able to take your eyes off the track long enough to soak it all in. The accommodation looks 5 star and the rain gods appear to be on your side.

I know how the body (particularly your feet and legs) must be feeling right now but hang in there. And don't you just hate those endless hills!

We are all thinking of you.

    Stay well

    Cheers

    Chris

Update 28th July: Trekkers have now reached Menari – a short walk away from Efogi – but still another hill – haha

Johnsford their guide decided yesterday that he would not push them down to Agulogo but allow them to rest up a little with a short trekking day.

No doubt the guys appreciated this but lots of mud ahead so we have been informed today by some trekkers who came out around midday.

    Hi Davo and Team,

Almost there; by my calculations this is your second last day. Hope all is going well and no doubt the beer will taste great when you get back to civilisation. The diggers did it tough and under fire as well; really gard to think how we can thank them for their sacrifices.

    HI Brian,

No doubt this post will reach you upon your successful completion of your crossing. Well done and I trust the experience was as memorable as my crossing in August last. I am sure you found the track as tough as what investment markets are at present.
I have just returned from Qld. were I attended the official dedication of the Kokoda Memorial Wall at Cascade Gardens, Broadbeach, a very spectacular memorial for the diggers of the 39th Battalion of which my late father was a member and served on the track during WW2. Mike Ralston, in his capacity as President of the 2/14th Battalion Assoc also attended.
Have just picked up the news of your trek. I have become a regular contributor to this forum since our crossing.
    Kind regards.

Update 29th July: Trekkers have now made it to Japs Ladder where they spent last night. They are now heading for a campsite called Dump 66 for their last overnight before they walk off the track on the 31st.

All trekkers are doing ok and the way they are now walking their guide has confidence they will finish their trek.

Trek Guide Johnsford Eroro advised via sattelite phone that all treckkers are fine and will be camping at Goldie River. This will be their last night. Trek should be completed by about 9.00am local time. Due to the road conditions and a stop over at Bomana War Cemetery, trekkers should be back at their hotel around midday – 2 pm.

The last climb up to Owers' Corner will still have them cursing but the joy when they walk through the archway is hard to explain….wait until they get back home!

    Greetings Bucketeers, especially Davo!
You will be finished now and resting those smelly, blistered feet … the 'civilised' beer here in Cairns – for your chafed lips and parched throats – awaits!
Hope you don't need too much of a "nanna-nap" before hitting the town – I await your call
    cheers (in anticipation)
