    Photographs taken today:

Pic 1: Our troopcarrier caught behind the POMIS High School bus when it got bogged on one of the first hills. We decided then to stop the bus there and for the 4WD's to go in and ferry trekkers and porters out.
Pic 2: What a sight – mateship at its best – PNG Style with a PNG Headdress
Pic 3: Two Kokoda Kids in the back of my Prado

Caught up with the 'Kokoda Kids' tonight at the Gateway Hotel where we gave them a t/shirt and a 'Certificate of Achievement'. They still seem on a 'high' and rightly so, they have all done well. I asked it the actual Kokoda Track was harder than the hinterland on the Gold Coast, no comparison it seems!

Update 23rd September: The Kokoda Kids along with Gary and Samantha were invited to attend a barbeque at the POMIS High School today. After picking them up we took them for a drive around town and stopped at a roadside market place:

On behalf of Management and staff, thank you Doug for choosing Kokoda Trekking to take this years Kokoda Kids out on the Kokoda Track. We trust they all thoroughly enjoyed their trek with our KTL Boys as I know our staff enjoyed walking with them.

Well here we all are safe and sound back in Australia. Thanks Gail for making it all possible with such wonderful staff. John, Brenden, Tom, Lu Lu, Wayne….and all the others that made it such a great experience.
It was a very succesful trip for us with all the kids back in one piece and all healthy. Gareths feet are healing quickly. Tell John it was a form of a Planter Wart with the middle part falling out because of the moisture and the continued pressure of walking on it.
Once again thanks for such a wonderful trip
