We met up with our four Trekkers at the Gateway Hotel last night and had a briefing with them. They all looked calm but a little nervous and looking forward to their trip this morning. The Trekkers are as follows:

    • Kane Blackman
    • Peter Cotter
    • Stan Fraser
    • Matthew Fraser

They were taken to the airport around 7am but were not able to be flown to Kokoda due to the weather, and were taken back to the hotel to wait until around 9am.

As we had another four trekkers booked for the same date but wanting to start from Owers Corner and finishing at Kokoda, we explained to this group and they agreed to travel into Kokoda with this trek on the same aircraft.

They all met for the first time at the airport for the Tropicair Charter (all 8). I know that they came in as strangers but will definitely come out as friends.

Update 17 October 2008: The update from the trek this morning was that the trekkers are doing fine, heading for Eora Creek after spending the 1st night at Isurava. They are walking at their own pace, which is recommended. Their 2nd night will be at Eora Creek.

Update 19th October: We heard from the track yesterday at Templeton's Crossing that they were on the move and heading to 1900 Campsite area where they planned on sleeping last night.

Today they are heading to Efogi Village the half way point where they will have a good rest and top up on their second half rations.

Update 22/10/08: My apology for not updating until now but we had to move house on Monday and had to have our wireless internet access transferred to the new premise. Unfortunately we have experienced problems connecting but am up and away now as the problem was fixed this morning.

After the last update posted trekkers walked into Efogi Village where they spent the night.

The following day we heard from them at Menari saying all was ok. The next message was that they were at Nauro and would head down to Ioribaiwa Village the following night.

Update 24th October: Trekkers came off the track yesterday morning around 8am and were back in Port Moresby before midday. I am told that there has been a few landslides on the road from Owers' Corner so in certain places the road was worse than before which is a statement in itself.

I will post now some photographs taken yesterday by our driver Matthew.

Last night we met up with this group of trekkers at the Gateway Hotel. They all enjoyed their trek and the company of our KTL boys.
