MemberHappy Birthday to Brian & Lesleigh on their recent Kokoda Track trek, I hope you enjoyed the experience. A major achievement to complete it at age 70. I compeleted my Trek and I had just turned 60 and I remember how hard the first day was from kokoda to Isurava, so well done to you both. I yearn to return and walk from Owers to Kokoda at some stage in the future.
Best regards
Warren (Waza – Trek 83)

MemberUpdate 4th October: yes, congratulations are in order as Trek 435 walked out in Kokoda this afternoon around 3pm. Wallace has not long contacted us by sat phone to relay this message. He said all trekkers are really HAPPY that they successfully completed their trek.
Wallace bought a couple of chickens and vegies and not long before he phoned they had just finished eating.
He told us that they are all fine except for Brian who has swollen knees but is confident he will recover quickly. Turns out he almost gave up at 1900 Myola Junction but the boys continued to give him the inspiration to finish.
Brendan Buka walked in front holding his hand and Wallace held his day pack from behind to steady him as they moved along the track. Wallace kept telling him about the blind man they took on the track and how they got him home to Kokoda and this kept him going it seems.
So there you go, you can all be proud of your loved ones who are now safely at our camp in Kokoda. Tomorrow with the exception of Brian who is staying on in Kokoda until the 8th October, the others will return around 9:30am on our chartered aircraft.

MemberUpdate 5th October: Trekkers are now back in Port Moresby and have been dropped off at the Gateway Hotel around 10am. Brian as mentioned earlier stayed on in Kokoda to spend a few days there.
I asked out of 10 how was it…..one was reply in relation to your boys, 15 ! They were just great!
Everyone looked ok but turns out Brian has a bruised and swollen right leg which has been giving him some problems but not enough to make him jump on the flight today and come in earlier then originally planned.
Photographs below were taken this morning shortly before they boarded the Tropic Air flight to Port Moresby.

MemberHave just spoken by two way radio to Brian and he said to let his family know that HE DID IT. Apparently he had his doubts around 1900 but pushed on with the help of Brendan and Wallace.
He said he was quite emotional when he arrived in Kokoda.
Today they are going to walk to the village where Wallace lives which is called Saga Village.
Brian mentioned he was looking forward to a swim in the creek instead of a shower so his leg can't be THAT BAD otherwise he would be sitting with it up in the air all day hoping the swelling would go down.
I think when you all get him back home, possibly you will not be able to shut him up as he sounded like he was on cloud 9 !!!
