Boss Meri
MemberTrek 427 were up bright and early for their flight to Kokoda on the 21st July. Due to bad weather they did not get away until around 9 am. On arrival in Kokoda they were soon on the track as they chose a 6 day trek. When I met up with this group of trekkers they informed me they were all competing triatheletes – so quite a fit group!
Trekkers include :
Angie McMartin; Trent Cunnane; Toby Hudson & Geoff Boston

MemberHi Geoff
We're so proud that you made it safely to the Isurava monument. We hope you feel enlightened after seeing this majestic monument and the one to Bruce Kingsbury, and trust that his heroism will spur you on when you are feeling tired.
Make sure you get the kids to sing "Deep and Wide" to you all along the way, as this can be a real boost to you! It's a pity that you wont be on the track on a Sunday to participate in a local church service but we will be praying for you.
All our love and best wishes to you and your friends
Louisa and Mark

MemberUpdate 25/07/08: Heard from the track yesterday that two trekkers had made it to Nauro but not so lucky is Trent Cunnane who rolled his ankle and has blisters on both feet and will be airlifted off the track today if the weather clears.
Angie McMartin decided to stay behind with him so at the moment two of the trekkers are making their way to Owers' Corner.
Around 8am this morning they contacted me to say they were at Maguli Ridge and were checking on Trent.

MemberHi Geoff
we were so worried when we read about Trent being airlifted out. God willing, you will make it in 1 piece to Owers Corner. Take your time and little steps, as it isn't a race.
We miss you dearly and are so proud of your achievements. You really are an inspiration to your friends, family and colleagues.
All our love

MemberUpdate 26th July: Good news, this morning the helicopter managed to get into Agulogo to pick up Trent and Angie who are now safely back in Port Moresby. Trent has been to see the doctor and the other two guys walked off the track today at Owers' Corner.
Refer photographs below, do they look any different to when they first headed out.
Pics:
1. Taken at Sogeri Monument
2. Inside our vehicle on the way off the track
3. When we first laid eyes on them on the Owers' Corner/Sogeri Road. Earlier this morning our Troopcarrier went and dropped off porters for Trek 428 and to wait for the two guys while I stayed back in Port Moresby to make sure the helicopter got away, Once that was under control our Prado hit the road to catch up with our Troopy which by that time had turned and was heading towards Port Moresby from Owers Corner. We caught up with them around McDonald's Corner.Trekkers offloaded into my vehicle along with their porters and guide Harold Hauro while the Troopcarrier waited for the trekkers heading out along with the couple of porters we drove up from Port Moresby.

MemberSo congratulations are in order for Toby Hudson & Geoff Boston who have successfully completed their 6 day trek across the Kokoda Trail.
I asked them whilst driving how they would describe their Kokoda experience. A reply from the back seat was 'relentless' tough!
One remark was that one of them was talking to a co worker recently who found it hard to describe. I think both these trekkers can now relate and will no doubt be so proud of themselves right now.
As for Angie and Trent. The comment was made that Angie has unfinished business and will be back. I guess Trent could have other ideas following the problems with his feet.
On behalf of Management and Staff, thanks 'Trek 427' for choosing to trek with Kokoda Trekking.
