Boss Meri
MemberIt is with regret that we have to cancel 'Trek 400' due to leave Port Moresby from Owers' Corner on the 20th November,
We have received continuous heavy rain for days on end which has caused trekkers to be stranded at various points along the Kokoda Track as well as all airline operations into the Koiari ports and Kokoda/Popondetta in the Oro Province cancelled until further notice.
Quite a few bridges have been washed out which means per my previous posting, that Air Niugini has cancelled their flights into Popondetta due to the road being block from Guria Airport into Popondetta.
Kokoda Airport is not flooded but due to the heavy rain, twin otter flights have been stopped as their is low cloud cover and the Kokoda Gap blocked off so no access to this area.
This morning we overheard quite a few companies reporting that they had been stranded at various points along the track. One group are at Naduri; another at Templetons Crossing and some more at Eora Creek.
They are in no danger but cannot move due to the flooding of the creeks in that area.
We ask that you transfer your trek to trek 401 leaving on the 28th November or to another trek in 2008 of which there are plenty to choose from.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused but your safety is our main concern.
