MemberToday we met up with our latest group of trekkers who arrived around 11:30am thismorning. Trekkers include :
Deanna and Stuart Hart, Wayne James, Stephen Schill, Donna West and Rion Farmer.
After they had settled into the Gateway Hotel, we had a briefing near the swimming pool area before driving them down to Ela Beach to check out the Hiri Moale Festival.
Later we drove out to Bomana War Cemetery and then left them back at the Gateway Hotel.

MemberHey Donna. Thinking of you each day as you slog up and down those little hills!!! Boy you sure make that shirt look better than it did on me! Some great photos here already. You'll have some great photos for that scrappin album when you get back. I just had a thought. By starting at Owers Corner, you have a downhill climb first and finish with a nice downhill walk as well. We did it the opposite way, starting with the uphill climb and finishing with an uphill climb. I'll continue to keep an eye on your progress. This site is great!!
Cheers

MemberUpdate 19th September: Trekkers have now made it to the half way point of Efogi where they will spend the night and stock up on new food to get them to Kokoda.
Here they will sleep on mattresses with pillows and wash in a tank or the creek whichever they wish.

MemberWell Donna, Half way. It's a wonderful feeling isn't it!! Hopefully today you will get to meet one of the legends of the Track. Ovuru Ndiki. One of those Angels of the Track. What an amazing old man. I'm sure you will find this a very emotional encounter and one you will hold dear forever. Only a couple of more days now and you will have achieved an unforgettable milestone.
Thinking of you
