With the exception of Mark Robotham who flew in from Cairns, all other trekkers did not arrive in PNG until after 8pm due to a delay out of Brisbane. They told me today they did not end up getting to bed until 12:30 last night so were moving a bit slower today.

This morning they had a 6:30am pickup from their hotel to head out to catch our chartered flight to Kokoda. This flight got away as planned at 7:30am. Trekkers include :

Fiona McLarty; Brett Dorrington; Jamienne and Daniel Thompson; Daniel Burger; Duane Kelaart; Mark Robotham and Julia Price

Update 5th August: Trekkers got away a little later than expected this morning as one guy fell and hurt his leg on the steps of a win haus (traditional dwelling) and had to be taken to the hospital before they headed off.

I do not know which guy but heard they all got away as planned heading for Isurava where they would spend their second night.

Update 8th August: Tony has been a bit naughty and has not been coming on the radio but heard from him twice today. Last night they overnighted at 1900 Myola Junction and they said it was very cold.

Today they have made it to the half way point of Efogi where they will spend the night. All trekkers are doing really great and enjoying their time on the Kokoda Trail it appears.

They are looking forward to a warmer night than last night. They also get to sleep on mattresses with pillows so this too should help.

Update 9th August: Last night our group spent the night at Nauro and are all still going really well, no problems whatsoever it seems listening to our guide Chrisley.

He said today the plan was to push down to Ua'Ule Creek where they would spend the night in readiness to come up at Owers' Corner on Saturday 11th.

Update 10th August: Our guide called in this afternoon to say they had all reached Ua'Ule Creek where they would spend the night.

They plan to arrive at Owers' Corner around midday tomorrow. After a drive down from Sogeri they will be driven into the Bomana War Cemetery where they can spend a hour or so.

All going well, they should be back in their hotel rooms around 3pm.

Tonight we met up with Trek 394 and t seems they all had a fantastic time and were full of praise for their guide and porters. Our staff were the same, they loved the experience of walking with this group.

These are some photographs taken tonight at the Crowne Plaza Hotel:
