MemberTrek 390 headed out to Owers' Corner today but not without a few hassles. With the exception of two who flew in from Cairns, all the others on this trek were held up in Brisbane due to Air Niugini's problems. Some arrived around 10pm whilst the others did not see their hotel room until after 1am.

MemberDue to Air Niugini the day started off with trekkers obviously tired from not enough sleep plus the added fact that two of them had their backpacks offloaded. We decided that they go ahead with the group and that we worry about their backpacks.
At 3:30pm this afternoon we located their backpacks and as I write this my staff mechanic come driver Roger is on his way up to Sogeri and then Owers' Corner to drop off two runners to catch up with the group so they have tents/boots and other items they will need for their first night in the bush.
The road today was not so kind to us and if you look closley you will see its wet, slippery and one bus got bogged and our troopcarrier had to tow out of the bog….yeah, been quite a day!

MemberUpdate 2nd October 5:45pm: Have just spoken to our guide Ray by sat phone and trek 390 has reached what is commonly referred to as 'Goodwater' where they will spend the night.
I asked if your runners had caught up with the group as yet but apparently they havent as yet. Once at the campsite they will offload the backpacks and will head back to Owers' Corner as our Troopcarrier is standing by waiting for their return before heading back in to Port Moresby. Hopefully there will be no rain and our truck will not get bogged as when returning late in the day its always on the cards.
Not so long ago I just posted ALL the pics taken today, if you wish to look at them all, please click on the following link:

MemberUpdate 3rd October: As a couple were doing it a bit tough it was decided to give them a short day which saw them overnight at Ioribaiwa last night. All are ok though so no need to panic, our guide is confident they will be ok at this stage of their walk.

MemberUpdate 4th October: Our trekkers are on the move and the plan today is to reach Nauro Village. As none of our treks are set in concrete, they may decide to stay there or move on to Menari, it will all depend on how the trekkers are coping with the conditions today.

MemberUpdate 6th October: Trekkers spent last night at Efogi Village and early this morning were on the move where their guide called in from Naduri saying they would spend the night at Myola Junction/1900 campsite. All trekkers are doing ok and on target to complete their trek.

MemberOur guide called in today by two way radio to say they were on the move and at that stage were at the Kokoda Gap. The plan today is to head to Eora Creek where they will spend the night.
Our KTL boys about now I am sure, can smell their home cooked meals waiting for them and a cuddle coming on from their wife or girlfriend as they go up another level knowing they are HEADING FOR HOME after being away for a couple of weeks.
Tonight trekkers will sleep to the sound of the raging waters of Eora Creek. I doubt if you ever forget the sound of this river!
Tomorrow they will have to cross over it as they then head up to Alola Village more than likely for lunch before off to the Isurava Monument area and Isurava Village where they will more than likely spend the night.

MemberTrekkers walked out in Kokoda today and are not at Russell Eroro's family block. So congratulations to Trek 390 for successfully completing their Kokoda Trek.
As I write they are relaxing and about to head down to the creek that adjoins the family property. They will fly back into Port Moresby tomorrow on our Tropic Air chartered flight and should be back in their hotel somewhere between 10 – 11am.

MemberUpdate 10th October, 2007: Trekkers arrived back in Port Moresby as planned on our Tropic Air Charters this morning around 10:30am and are now back in their respective hotels.
They all said they had a great time and appeared to be in love with their walking sticks!
We will meet up with them again at 6pm tonight.
