Update 1st May: Trekkers have now reached Alola Village where they will spend the night. This is a big group, 20 trekkers and 30 porters and guides. Tonight they have to share with another group so from what I heard today a tight squeeze re tent space but all is ok.

They may have pushed on but Julie is still coming up the rear so I do not think the guide wanted to push her any further by moving onto Isurava Monument Area.

Its probably a good thing as tomorrow they will walk the corner from Alola to the most wonderful sight when they lay their eyes on the Monument area. Walking from Owers' Corner it kinda hits you more as you have just trudged days of hard ups and downs just to get there. You also have such admiration for the diggers at this moment.

Tomorrow after spending time at Isurava they will move on down towards Kokoda where they will spend some time looking at the Museum/Monuments before moving down to our camp. On the morning of the 3rd May they will be flown in by chartered aircraft to Port Moresby.

Update 3rd May: Trekkers all successfully reached Kokoda yesterday. I believe Julie and her husband came in quite late and our motor bikes went up as far as they could to help out but make it she DID!

    Well done to EVERYONE!

At the moment as I type this they are at Kokoda airport waiting for their flight back into Port Moresby.

    Photographs:

Pic 1: no doubt a hive of activity at Kokoda airport this morning as they figure out which of the first 8 will board the aircraft as Russell will take up one of the seats making 9 in total. The aircraft will then ferry back and forth until it moves all 20 of them back to Port Moresby.

At the airport this end is also our 24 porters and guides who came back in off a flight yesterday which are returning home from their trek.
