Trekkers from Trek 363 had a 7am pickup from their various hotels to head down to Jackson's Airport to board their chartered flight to Kokoda. All trekkers got away on the first flight of the day and their gear followed on the second flight.

Sandy Friso unfortunately lost his bag as it didnt arrive yesterday and went off to Japan. He ran into some trekkers who had just finished their trek at the Crowne Plaza and managed to borrow most of the gear he needed and we helped out with a backpack and sleeping bag. He had an early rise as he had to go out to the airport this morning to try and check on it hoping it would turn up on the return flight. When we arrived at the airport there he was with no gear. Sandy is pictured with the NIKE shirt front row. He fortunately wore his boots on the plane!

However where a lot of people could have reacted differently, he left with a SMILE on his face which showed his true personality! However he is really travelling LIGHTWEIGHT. One guy had 25kg and joked that he would pass some weight onto him.

Update 18th April, 2007: Trekkers spent last night at Efogi Village and according to our guide Tarina all are travelling well. They have now reached the village of Menari and will rest there overnight.

Tomorrow they will walk past Nauro and camp at Ofi Creek.

Update 21st April: We are still waiting to hear from our guide Tarina as to what time he expects to arrive up at Ower's Corner today but on average its around midday.

The road has been wet of late so they may have to walk a little bit further up to the Salvation Army.

    Comments from our guide Tarina:

Day 1: Started from Kokoda at midday and finished at 7:30pm at Isurava Village where we camped at Mr Yauie's Guesthouse. We had our lunch at Deneki

Day 2: We commenced walking at 7:00 am and arrived at Templeton's 2 at 5:45pm. Lunch was at Alola Village

Day 3: We started off around 7:00am and had morning tea at Myola Junction. Lunch was at Kagi Village. We then moved on to Efogi where we overnighted.

Day 4: All trekkers made it ok to Menari Village where we spent the night.

Day 5: Trekkers overnighted at Nauro.

Day 6: We started out at 7:00am and had lunch at Ofi Creek. We then walked up to Ioribaiwa and bought a bilum of kaukau for K20.00 before heading off to Ua'Ule Creek for the last overnight.

All trekkers did extremely well. My porters performance was also very good.

We thank trek 363 for choosing Kokoda Trekking (KTL). Our KTL staff seen here at the Crowne Plaza when they met up with their trekkers the night they completed their trek:
