They were the ones up the front with the lead group when I read out the messages. Hope they make sense as I said I was taking it down at what felt like 100 miles per hour! haha and had to SLOW them DOWN….

MemberHi Dad (Glenn),
I'm so jealous, I'm over this crappy weather here, need a holiday.
Surley you need to relax on a beach somewhere exotic after the trek and want your family around you to hang out with……
Of course this would be on your dollar
Went to the shack on the long weekend, had fun, car broke down and is totally stuffed (ours not yours) and had to leave it in Ardrossan, now we only have one car!
Don't worry I have an idea on how to get my hands on a car, might involve you however….. will talk to you more Sunday night when I come over for dinner.
See u
Rachel
PS – I noticed Andrew's message to you, clearly I am the nicer child

MemberI managed to read out all your messages around 7:30pm tonight. Unfortunately by the time they had a chance to reply someone was intercepting on the radio and we couldnt hear each other properly. What I did hear however when I read out Andrew's message….tell him I will kill him when I return home!……
Trekkers have now reached Nauro Village. One guy is doing it tough with his knees and only arrived at 6pm – do not ask me who as I do not know as Andrew their guide did not mention this.
They all sounded like they were having a good time!

MemberHello Phil
Hope the feet aren't succumbin' to the numbin' (or maybe better if they are) – we do have very good medical facilities back in Oz… wishing you all the best now that you are hopefully over many of the hills (so to speak) Oki Creek descent looks particularly interesting!!
kind regards – just think of us slaving away in clinic and hospital!

MemberThere once was a bunch of old trekkers,
Looked more like a group for the wreckers!
Set out on the Trail
(Some thought they might bail)
At last sighting they were all playing checkers!Promises of rain, steep ridges, rivers and leeches
Potential for terror – or glee.
But mattresses, pillows and all comfort features
Not needed; just a safe place to pee! From Kokoda through Isurava, Templeton & Efogi
Little Glenny has trudged with his crew.
As they trundle their backpacks through Naoro & Ofi
And feast nightly on bully beef stew. What next for our heroes – Kosiosko? the Amazon?
A traipse up old Everest perhaps?
Not before a long drink, hot shower and a Mogadon
……..and a chance for the memory to lapse!!!On the downhill run now, guys – still no work being done Johnny and sales are still lousy but don't worry, it's all in our capable hands!

PS: JB you're gay.

MemberJB gay ?
What about Auld and Pullen ?
Glenny is the stud muffin and the brewer of good stories.
If the photos I am looking are reduced to 64% does that mean so has the body size of the walkers.
I am looking at Pullens photo album while he's away and jotting telephone numbers–most that I have phoned seem keen to meet me.
Anyway take your time to get back and I hope al is going well..sales seem good too..Any Bud up there because we can send a fair bit !14/06/2007 at 4:36 pm #97700BaseCampMinder
MemberJB – you waited until the Kokoda Track until you came Out? Are you now finally sharing your two-man tent with Auldy? Breathing in the sweet collective scents of masculine trekking sweat?
Hope you're all having fun lads – the Long Ridge Goat Track must be looking like a pimple compared to what you're no doubt slogging up now.
Look forward to taking up my organic walking stick with you all on your return.
Cheers,
Dan & Tanya

MemberHi ho, Hi ho, it's off to trek we go.
We are so gay, it's nice to lay……
At nature's feet. Hi hoHi ho, Hi ho, it's through the mud we sludge.
Our boots are yuck, the leeches suck!
Hi ho, Hi ho. Hi hoHi ho, Hi ho. Another mountain looms.
Along the ridge a boy scout's bridge –
Wet socks again! Hi hoHi ho, Hi ho. Our helpful fuzzy friends
They soothe, cajole – help reach our goal
And climb that final peak. Hi hoHi ho, Hi ho. We're nearly, almost there.
We've crossed the brink – give us a drink!
We've led a merry dance. Hi ho……….15/06/2007 at 7:45 am #97704Boss Meri
MemberUpdate Friday 15th: First message I received was from EMITA RIDGE….what a SCARE…..
An expat voice came on the radio …..
Gail, have you seen our porters THEY HAVE ALL DISAPPEARED ON US….we think we are on the right track but cant be sure….or something to those words!
Russell was in the room at the time and I handed over to him as I thought what happened to them….you see the boys say there are good spirits and bad spirits on the trail……my first thought was the bad spirits had frightened the boys and they had run off…..
While I was coming to terms with the what happened bit…….John Baker came on and said do not worry Gail we were just having a joke with you…..my heart suddenly started beating at the right pace again after my near heart attack….haha….and I replied….what, its not the 1st April!!!
John replied that they are aussie's and can joke anytime of the year!!!
So, yes were in a joking mood today as they headed for home……
Our guide Andrew then took over the radio and assured me all was in order and they would be up at Owers' Corner around 1pm today.
Photograph: a photograph taken this week as another group head up the last hill at Owers' Corner..quite a tough last hill they all say!

MemberUpdate 15th June 2:30pm: Trekkers have been picked up as planned and are on their way back into Port Moresby as I type this via Bomana War Cemetery.
Unfortunately our driver holding our camera did not arrive down at Owers' Corner in time for a group photograph under the arches, but I believe Andrew their guide took some with his camera. Have been trying to upload them onto my computer but no luck it just doesnt want to work. I will wait for my IT guy as I need to download something and it will not allow me as I do not know his password so you will all just have to wait.
