9 Trekkers headed out to Kokoda today. The first group of three joined Trek 392 booked by PNGTA and the remaining 6 had to wait for the aircraft to come back before heading out. Their guide is Russell's brother Johnsford Eroro. Trekkers included:

Steven Dwyer; Terence Dwyer; Wayne Nixon; Ian Holsworth; Damien Leon; Clarrie Green; Stuart Wickens; Darren McIntosh and ex trekker Rod Steven.

Update 22nd July: Trekkers did really well today and walked up to Isurava Village where they are spending the night. Their guide Johnsford said all are going ok and enjoying their trek.

Update 23/07/07: Today our trekkers would have walked to the Isurava Monument area and then onto Alola Village before heading for Eora Creek where I would think they will spend the night. Will confirm once I hear from our guide.

Update 25th July: Sorry could not post as my internet was down until now.

Trekkers are still moving quite fast. Yesterday they walked from Efogi to Nauro Village where they spent the night.

All trekkers are doing really well with no problems whatsoever.

Update 26th July: Johnsford called in from Ioribaiwa today saying they were on target for getting off the track tomorrow 27th July.

He mentioned they should be up at Owers' Corner around 11:30am tomorrow. After they slowly drive back down and then go into the Bomana War Cemetery, it should get them in their hotel rooms by 3pm.

Tomorrow they will push on to Goldie River where they will wade across before the last steep hill climb up to Owers' Corner.

Photograph: Owers' Corner – the FINISH LINE for our trekkers. At this point in time they can feel very proud of themselves! Am meeting up with them at 4:30pm so will no doubt hear all about their adventure on the Kokoda Trail:

The trek would not be complete without a visit into the Bomana War Cemetery on their way back into Port Moresby:

Update 27th July: Tonight I met up with trekkers from this group at a get together when they invited their porters and guide to share a beer or two with them around the swimming pool area of the Gateway Hotel.

They all did really well but poor Steve had a tough couple of days but he pulled through and looked so proud of himself tonight that he finished and did not get air lifted off the track.

I hadn't mentioned anything earlier as I did not want to panic anyone but lets just say he now knows what it must have been like during the war when our fuzzy wuzzy's carried out the wounded!

I will now post some photographs taken tonight 27th July:
