Photographs as promised just arrived in off the trail:

Pic 1: Barbara with our two porters Polly and Cyprian who walked in her memory card
Pic 2: Their guide David Clark Embo
Pic 3: Brothers, Bill & Patrick

Pat, don't let Bill wear those cute blue smurf shoes in Port Moresby, the rascals will probably take to him with a stick.

You blokes really look like you could do with a beer.

    Cheers,
    Terri and Shaun.

I hope I am doing this correctly.
Hi guys, I have been following your trek since it appeared on this site. My 15 year old daughter (Lara) is also on the trek with her school from Sydney and they are due to pass you tomorrow on their way to Owers Corner. I was wondering by chance if you happen to see this group if you could say hello to her from her Mum & Dad. She has red hair so easy to recognise.
I have no contact at all until they arrive home on the 9th so watching you 3 guys has given me an insight to what she will be doing.
I can't wait to check this site several times a day to see how you are all coping. You are doing great and I thank you for allowing me to feel part of your trek.
    Jennie & David Dickerson

Update 2nd October: A message just in from the track, they did cross the trek that your daughter is on and they do remember her because of her red hair. They said she was doing ok when they passed by so relax she appears to be doing ok.

I too have a daughter with red hair or she would prefer to be described as strawberry blonde! Once at school someone with red hair apparently broke something. All students with red hair were called to the Principal's office. My daughter wondered at the time if a brunette had done the deed if all brunettes would have been called to her office!

    Hi Daddy Bear (Patrick)

I hope you are still going OK. I've been testing out my arms and legs (wriggling them) but I don't think Mummy can feel me very well yet (maybe sometimes). I know you have almost reached the highest point on the track – so only another day or so and it's mostly down hill (sounds good, doesn't it?)

I keep trying to convince Mummy to eat that massive chocolate Haigh's frog in the fridge but she thinks she should save it for you when you get home! Bye for now, Peanut

Update 2nd October: Our guide David called in today from Templeton's Crossing but because its down low its hard to get out a message from there so I could hardly hear him. I did however hear that they planned on spending the night at Eora Creek.

Update 2nd October at 5:15pm: Have just spoken to the group again and read out all the latest messages. Barb was once again going a hundred miles an hour with messages to send to you all (but I do not take shorthand)…haha) but in a nutshell, she misses each and everyone of you and sends her love!

Bill or Patrick mentioned a reply about the red headed school girl and that was about it.

Earlier today Barb mentioned they had finished the hills…..the boys obviously had not told her about the big climb tomorrow up to Alola, its a beauty especially as you get closer to the top. Quite honestly if I had not hired a personal porter I think I would be still standing/and or sitting about 15 metres from the top of the hill trying to work out how the hell I would make it to the top. Its hard to describe but you basically wind yourself around the hillside which is quite steep and at the time I walked wet into the bargain.

She also mentioned today that she had been on all fours at a couple of the places. Well tomorrow as she gets to the top of this hill I think she may find herself doing the same!

    From the red head's mum
Thankyou for your feedback. Just knowing you saw her and she is ok has brought a tear to my eyes. After seeing your photo's I can now imagine where she is going each day. Your right about readheads standing out and being judged unfairly but I wouldn't swap her for the world.
Enjoy the rest of your trek. You are all doing awesome. The pain will end soon but the memories will last a lifetime.
Keep safe and have a good trip home.
    Jennie

    Hi Pat

Here's a message from the Mel & Jen at work.

Hi Patrick, you're doing great and we are loving the updates! Our walks down Pitt Street of an evening without you have almost been as dangerous as your "water adventures"! Good luck, and see you soon! Jenny and Melissa.

We're all really proud of you, I know it's every bit as tough as it looks but I'm sure you're absolutely loving it too.

    See you soon brother.

    Michael.

Update 3rd October: Trekkers walked into the Village of Alola and although it was a tough climb they all did really well.

Later in the day they arrived at the Isurava Battle Site before heading down to Isurava Village where they spent the night.

Update 4th October: Have just spoken to our guide David and they are DENEKI and heading for KOKODA. We have just organised for our truck KTL 1 to be on standby at Kovelo at 11am this morning for when they walk out off the trail.

The message is that they have lots of muddy clothes etc they want to wash this afternoon before they head back into Port Moresby tomorrow.

    Photographs:

Pic 1: this area is renowned for wild choko's which are used for cooking along with the leaves
Pic 2: the track winds down over a few creeks but its rather exciting as you know you are heading for your destination and the fact that you have completed your walk
