MemberTrek 340: 8 trekkers left Port Moresby today around 3pm to head out to Kokoda for the commencement of their trek. They included:
Neil & Donna Corker (return trekkers); Greg King, Simon Gee; Gary Fell; Brett Lapidge, Andreas Kappler (German Backpacker) and Bryce McLean.
Earlier this morning they enjoyed a drive around Port Moresby including a look at Parliament House before heading back to their hotel to prepare for their departure to kokoda around 3pm this afternoon.
Tonight they are guests of Russell Eroro's family in Kokoda and were entertained on arrival by a traditional sing sing group.

MemberUpdate 31st July: Trekkers left early from Kokoda and headed out for Isurava where they would spend the night.
Update 1st August: As planned they all spent the night at Isurava and today walked into the Isurava Monument area where their guide David Clark called in to say they were all doing really well and were about to walk onto the Village of Alola and then down to Eora Creek where they hoped to spend the night.

MemberUpdate 1st August: Trekkers have made it to their destination set down for today and are still doing just great. Our guide remarked at Alola that our return trekkers Donna and Neil are determined this time round to finish their trek. Unfortunately Neil got airlifted out of Menari last year when he fell ill, so far so good, this time round.
Neil asked for his same porter who must be walking with a huge SMILE
on his face as before they headed out to Kokoda they bought for him a small generator.
To us as Australians we take so much for granted. For these young guys the thought of having a small generator to run a fluro light and possibly a small stereo is what they dream about. For one PNG lad living in Kokoda, his dream has come true thanks to the generousity of Neil and Donna!

MemberUpdate 2nd August: David Clark our guide on this trek called in today to say they were all ok and heading for 1900 campsite tonight.
Special message from Donna to her family back home: we are both doing really well and enjoying everyday. This time we plan to finish our trek as we have not had any problems whatsoever.

MemberUpdate 2nd August: David Clark called by two way radio from the Kokoda Gap and said all trekkers were still doing great and that he called out before heading down to 1900 as he knew it would be hard to get a message out from there.
We will next hear from him once they reach the Kagi gap tomorrow morning around 9am.

MemberUpdate 3rd August: Our guide just radioed in to say the group had just reached Efogi Village after a long days walk of 6 hours today. Earlier in the morning he called in on his way up to Kagi.
He sounded just so charged up and happy that all his trekkers were doing just fine and that they had safely reached the half way point of Efogi.
They plan to rest the rest of the day, have a good meal and then walk to Menari tomorrow.

MemberUpdate 4th August: Trekkers moved out early this morning before breakfast and headed up to Brigade Hill where they stopped for something to eat.
They decided to move on past Menari and stay the night at a river campsite area. Tomorrow they are walking through Naoro and heading to Ofi Creek where they will spend the night.

MemberUpdate 8th August: Our guide called up from Imita Ridge yesterday and said everyone was ok and that they would push down as far as they could to come up early on the morning of the 7th from Owers' Corner around 10am.
As it turned out they spent the night at Uberi and were at Owers' Corner around 9:30am 7th August.
