Re Trek 338: Today we said goodbye to another trek that headed out from Owers' Corner heading for Kokoda. Trekkers were picked up from the Gateway Hotel & the Holiday Inn around 8am this morning and were driven out to Bomana War Cemetery. Later in the morning they set out from Ower's Corner and headed for Ua'Ule Creek where they planned to spend the night. Trekkers are:

Dave Deacon; Eric Gatehouse; Stephen O'Donoghue; Shannon Teveluwe; Susan Whittaker; John & Fleur Dean; Dee Britton; Jordan Cox; Daniel Byron; Damian and Robert Craven; Damian Morwood; Peter Bradford and Andy Kincaid.

Late this afternoon we received a radio message from their guide Rod Ori saying some were finding it tough carrying their pack and that some might yell for a porter come tomorrow morning….we wll just have to wait and see!

When some of the ladies heard Bomana had a good toilet compared to what they would soon experience, some ladies took the opportunity to head down the road……

Update 21st July: My apologies for no updates as our firstly our guide said he was having problems with his radio. When he called out from Nauro base I apparently was out of the office and did not pick up his call. Secondly when I caught up with him, I started experiencing problems with the internet and it kept dropping out before I could upload. Today its working ok so everything is back to normal.

Last night Rod Ori their guide, radioed in from Efogi on the base radio and again later last night on the sat phone and said all trekkers are doing just great and no worries whatsoever.

They spent last night at Efogi Village and today will move off to Templeton's II.

Rod is a very experienced guide so they are in good hands. They also have Wallace Lemeki on this trek as well and he is very popular with all our trekkers.

Update 3:50pm: Our guide just called in by sat phone to say they were presently at Mt Bellamy and that all trekkers were doing really well. They will stay at Templeton's tonight and push towards Alola tomorrow where they will spend the night.

Rod mentioned they will stop for a swim at Eora Creek before the climb up to Alola.

Update 24th July: Trekkers overnighted as planned at Kovello as guests of their guide Rod Ori, and today walked out to Kokoda where they ended their trek.

They will travel back in tomorrow in two different flights. The first nine will be in the chartered Tropic Air plane and the remainder of our trekkers will travel in on the Airlines of PNG RPT passenger flight due to Tropic Air not being able to do two flights tomorrow.

The first flight is due out of Port Moresby around 8:30am which will put them back in their respective hotels around 11am. The other flight does not leave here until 12:30 if running on time who should be back around 3pm.

Our congratulations to these trekkers who have done really well under the leadership of Rod Ori.

Update 26th July: Trekkers travelled in from Kokoda yesterday and I caught up with everyone at the Holiday Inn last night. All trekkers had a great time and at the present time are on their way back to Australia.

We would like to thank all our trekkers for choosing to trek with Kokoda Trekking.
