MemberOur wake up call this morning was at 5am and our vehicles drove off at 5:10am to pick up our latest group of trekkers who headed out on the track today from Owers' Corner. Trekkers are as follows:
Peter Neville; Mark Lawrance; Barley Ward Thomas; Anthony Ward Thomas and a late comer Moses Otyek who happened to find work here and tagged on at the last minute.
Moses who was staying at the Crowne Plaza in the heart of Port Moresby was picked up by our driver for his briefing and dropped at the Gateway Hotel. Russell and I were almost at the hotel when we received a two way radio from our driver saying he had just dropped off Moses. He then added 'Russ, he is black just like us'. So yes, we have our very first African trekker on the track who hails from Uganda but who now calls Australia home and lives with his wife Anna and children in Victoria.
Peter and Mark appear to be mates, and we have two brothers Barley and Anthony in this trek.

MemberUpdate 10th June:Trekkers spent last night at Nauro Village. They are all doing just great and enjoying their trek. This morning our guide contacted us saying they were on the track and would let us know later in the day where they would spend the night. All were fit and strong and walking well with no worries whatsoever at this stage.

MemberUpdate Sunday arvo: Cyprian their guide radioed in to say they arrived at Menari where they stopped for lunch. Everything was on target for them to reach Efogi where they planned to spend the night and restock on their food being our half way point.

MemberUpdate Tuesday 12th June: Our guide Cyprian radioed in from the Kagi Gap saying all trekkers were doing ok and they were heading for Templeton's 1 where they would spend the night. All were doing ok and asked to make sure their flight back into Port Moresby was in the morning as most were flying out the same day back to Australia:

MemberUpdate Saturday 16th June:Trekkers decided to come back in early off the track and as such finished on the 14th. After a few anxious moments trying to find accommodation, they were finally offered a room at the Gateway Hotel which is where we caught up with them.
——————————————————————————————–All seemed to have enjoyed their trek and were happy, smiling and cracking jokes. We asked them for comments about their experience and they all wrote something as follows:
Trek was physically the most demanding sustained challenge of my life! The porters and guides were fantastic, helpful, courteous, and good humoured. Most seem quite shy and have a great sense of humour.
This is a life changing experience.

——————————————————————————————–Kokoda Trekking delivered an exceptional experience. Cyprian was a magnificent group leader and his guys were a great and pleasant team to trek with.
I would always recommend to any of my friends that Kokoda Trekking group delivers the best conceivable service for inexperienced trekkers.
thanks

——————————————————————————————————A fantastic experienc beyond expectation. Physically tough, but very well managed by Cyprian and the KTL porters. Always felt confident that we were well looked after. Much more like a holiday – an experience that will remain with me. Would recommend KTL without hesitation.

Trek 334——————————————————————————————–
What an experience! I loved and enjoyed every minute of it – the pace, the sweat, the mud, wet track, rivers, waterfalls, hills and all the terrain. It was really good and I intend to do it again in the rainy season. The guide Cyprian was very experienced and helpful. All the porters were courteous, humble, and helpful. It was worth the time and effort.
Thank you for making it happen!

——————————————————————————————–Fantastic Trip! I would suggest that anyone who has worries in their world should do the Kokoda Trail. Porters and Guide did a great job!
It is where and when you discover the depths of your self and establish whether or not you have a sense of humour.
