MemberHusband and wife Tony and Rosemaree Brandon left Port Moresby for Kokoda on our chartered Hevi Lift flight at 8:15 this morning. On the ground at Kokoda was their guide Kingsley Boropi and his porters along with Russell Eroro and other family members to welcome them to Kokoda Airport:
We heard from their guide Kingsley mid afternoon that they had reached Isurava Village and both were walking really well and doing just great.
Initially on a 7 day trek but changed it to a 6 day hike if they can manage it. I asked Kingsley if he thought it was possible based on their fitness level today and he seems to think they will manage this which will have them back in Port Moresby on the 3rd June.

MemberUpdate 2:30pm 30th May Our guide Kingsley just radioed in to say they were presently at Eora Creek and were heading towards Templeton's. Wherever they decide to stop for the night they will let us know. Everything is all right, trekkers are still walking with no problems whatsoever.

MemberOur guide Kingsley made contact a few times today the last was at Imiti Ridge saying they would be spending the night at Uberi and that they should be up at Owers' Corner between 10 and 11am tomorrow. So well done to our husband/wife team completing their trek in 6 days not 7 as they had originally booked. This was their plan as they wanted to spend a day in Port Moresby and discussed this before they headed out.

MemberThe Archway at Owers' Corner where our driver and 'Troopcarrier' will be waiting for them. After completing your walk you feel just so damn good with about yourself and what you have achieved. No doubt tomorrow this husband and wife team will feel the same, and why shouldn't they, well done to both of them:

MemberOur KTL boys will load all the backpacks and trekkers and will head back towards Port Moresby on a road that at times is ok and at other times wet, muddy and 4 wheel driving….and they will think their adventure finished at Owers' Corner!:

MemberOn the way back to their hotel they will be driven into Bomana War Cemetery where the realty of what they have just done will hit them when they reflect back on our Aussie diggers and what they must have gone through, many of which did not return home to their families but died here on PNG soil:

MemberAs planned our trekkers, guide and porters arrived up at Owers' Corner and were back in Port Moresby around midday today 3rd June one day ahead of what was originally booked but on schedule for what was discussed before they headed out on the track.
They are now back resting the afternoon away in their hotel and will fly back to Australia tomorrow.

Day 1: Kokoda to Isurave: Nice late start, fly into Kokoda, gentle uphill towards Isurava. Perfect introduction to the trail! Weather beautiful, boys all happy and setting a fast pace. No problems so far!
We are on the trail!

MemberDay 2: – Isurava to Templeton's One: Uh, oh, I think this is not going to be as easy as yesterday! Kingsley, Webber and Sylvester are awesome – hot water for breakfast, quiet wake up, ever helping up the hills. How do they move so quickly up and down ? ? ? Long day, had great fun.
