Turns out Peter Howard used to live and work in Madang so is used to the way PNG operates. Fleur is Damon Goerke's partner….who is Damon Goerke? – the fastest 'white man' on the Kokoda Track having completed it in 2006 in a time of 19 hours – so obviously famous in these parts!

Fleur has decided to make this a holiday and a challenge at the same time.

Update 11th September: Sorry have not heard from our trek since they left on Sunday. However, we heard today from another group that they passed through Isurava, Alola and 1900 and now heading for either Kagi or Efogi. Will post more as soon as we hear from our guide Andrew.

Trek Update 13th Sept: Hi everyone, sorry I have not been able to post any updates due to the radios being down. However, today Andrew managed to get through and we heard that everyone is ok both trekkers and porters.

Last night they spent the night at Efogi Village:

Update 15th September: Sorry only heard from Andrew today to say there were all ok and were heading down to Goldie River where they would overnight. Tomorrow they hope to be up at Owers' Corner around 8:30 – 9am.

We also have a drop off tomorrow morning with another group heading out but today it rained heavily so we have to hope tomorrow we can drive all the way out to Owers' Corner otherwise they may have to walk a couple of extra hours to Vesulugo.

Have just heard that they want to go straight to their hotels to wash and then head off to Ela Beach to check out the Hiri Moale Festival. Andrew their guide was there this time last year so has no doubt told his trekkers about the judging today of this Miss Hiri Moale Queen for 2007:
