Update 26th April 2007: Sorry no updates yesterday as the radio network was not working. Today we heard from our guide who said they slept at Ioribaiwa Village and this morning when they called in they were at Ofi Creek about to head up Maguli Range. Our treks all carry a sat phone so if there was any problems they would have phoned in.

Update 27th April: Our guide radioed in to say that one trekker was doing it slow but all were ok and moving towards the village of Nauro.

Last night they spent the night at Ofi Creek and tonight they will spend the night at Menari.

Update 28th April:Trekkers have now reached the village of Efogi mid afternoon where they will spend the night. One trekker John (Jack) Ryan was airlifted out of Nauro this morning by helicopter and is now back in the Airways Hotel in Port Moresby safe and well after having seen a doctor earlier today.

All other trekkers are doing just fine and I am sure looking forward to their stay at Efogi.

Jack Ryan is now back in Port Moresby and is ok as I was talking with him today and he is feeling much better. As for the other remaining trekkers they are now 1900 where they will spend the night. All are doing really well. Photograph Myola Junction Campsite area:

Trekkers arrived in Kokoda this morning as planned and will fly back into Port Moresby by chartered aircraft around 10am and should be back in their hotel by 11am.

A traditional welcome was organised for them today in Kokoda. Not too sure which sing sing group as they all have different kinds of dress, but this will give you an idea of what they witnessed today in Kokoda.

Trekkers would have been offered fresh local food and would no doubt celebrate with their KTL porters and guide tonight at Rusty's Kokoda Family Block.

Our chartered flight with Tropic Air left Port Moresby at 9:30am as planned to pick up our trekkers waiting at the Kokoda airstrip. We have been advised by our Kokoda base that all is in order and the aircraft will be turned around as quickly as possible.

Trekkers arrived back in Port Moresby and we met with them at the Gateway Hotel. They all appeared to have had a great time. Ken Cook was back for his second trek and said he enjoyed it even more this time round.

Trek Report from our guide David Clark Embo:

Day 1: It was an early start of day 1. We all woke up at about 3:00am to get to Bomana War Cemetery for the Anzac Dawn Service. All Kokoda Trekking fleet of vehicles went to and fro from hotel to hotel picking up trekkers to attend the dawn service. As many as 2000 plus people were in attendance. It was a moving service for us all.

Our trek started late after the drop of at Ower's Corner around 2pm. We did a short walk to goodwater/Dump 66. The boys prepared dinner a bit early as both the trekkers and boys had dinner together, it was delicious. I had a general briefing with the boys and trekkers to start off at 6:30pm to tackle Imita Ridge and the Golden Stairs.
