MemberThis morning we were up bright & early to take down to the airport Michael & Madeleine and other trekkers destined for Kokoda on the first flight out.
Trekkers are: Dr Michael Beech & Dr Madeleine Martin
Once all trekkers were booked in for their flight to Kokoda, the long wait began as we all waited for the weather to clear up in Kokoda.
John Wild was nice enough to come and offer everyone the corporate lounge. Trekkers were quick to accept the offer and sat inside air conditioned comfort until they announced they would try and get into Kokoda around 8am.
Both Michael & Madeleine who are taking their time and walking a 9 day trek were on the first flight to Kokoda along with the fast trekkers – 17.
Today they will have all the time they like to look around Kokoda and no doubt being doctors, they will want to take a visit to the Kokoda Memorial Hospital.

Trek 153
The group is now at Isurava village, where they will camp for the night. Both trekkers are ok, they did grate up the test mountain and now, they are just relaxing those tired bodies and feet, after doing a big climb. No injuries have been reported, seems both trekkers have handled the test mountain well, so that?s good news. They still have plenty of time, so maybe after a good bath, they might head out for a stroll around the village or go site seen.
More updates to be posted up tomorrow.

Trek 153
Haven?t heard from this group since I last spoke with their guide on Monday the 12th of September.
However he did report that, they were going to spend the 3rd night at Eora Creek, and to be followed by Myola Junction which is today, their 4th night, but I didn?t get a call that evening, also yesterday and today to confirm that. But I?m certain tonight they will camp at Myola, and continue on from their tomorrow.I have been trying to get in touch with them since this morning, but haven?t got any respond. I?m pretty sure both trekkers are doing ok and well taken care off by the porters and guide.
If I do get a call from them, I'll update you on their progress.

Trek 153
Due to the long Independence weekend here in (PNG) Papua New Guinea, I was not able to come into work to update you all on this group?s progress. However, they have all come out safely yesterday afternoon around 12:30pm, and where taken down to Bomana War cemetery, were both trekkers had a last look around before heading back into Port Moresby.
But before all that happened, their guide Andrew gave me a call around 9:35am yesterday morning while they where up at Imita Ridge to inform me of their whereabouts and the trekkers conditions.
He said, they spent their last night at Ua-ule Creek and were up as early as 6am and were ready to head out to Owers Corner that morning. He even gave the time they were coming out, but wasn?t sure if they were going to come out on that exact time.
However, he said that when they reached Goldie River, he would give us a call again to give us the precise time. When I spoke to Andrew after their return, he told me he was pleased with both trekkers. He said they did fantastic; they walked well in time and pace and made it safely to every campsite. Despite the many ups and downs, the two trekkers handled it well, with the help of their porters and even the guide himself, and they had a wonderful time out there, so that was good to hear from the guide.
Congratulations To Both Trekkers & Well Done, You Did Grate.
