To Victor 129B
Hi, I hope that all is well. The girls both played netaball this morning – 1 win and 1 loss but both played well as defenders. Chris is working tonight and we are off to the movies. Take care, we all miss you,
Love Sue

Hi everyone, sorry still cant pass on messages or give you updates as the radio network is still not working.

I received a phone call from the Kokoda Track Authority (police of the track) saying they think some landowners may possible have turned off the repeater station. Unfortunately they cant get anyone to have a look at it until Monday.

I am trying to be patient but its hard as like yourselves I am wondering how they are going out there.

We sent out our sat phone yesterday being walked in so if the radio system does not get up and running they should meet in Efogi so hopefully we will get some feedback then if not beforehand if they can get it up and running again.

It worked so perfectly last week so its a big let down.

That's a bugger. We are hanging out for 'any' bit of news here…………..or a picture even. Nothing has made for a looooooong week.

Today they should have reached Myola Junction or possibly even Kagi depending on how they were all going.

Hi everyone, radios still not working so we are all relying on the bush telegraph and it seems to work.

Yesterday however, our guide Tarina heading in the opposite direction towards Kokoda ran into the three groups coming this way and said they were all doing well.

Apparently one guy wants to break away from the group and come back into town a day earlier than the rest.

All others are planned to arrive back in Port Moresby on Thursday morning, the road and weather permitting!!

Photograph: Our truck KTL 2 bogged in the mud on the way up to Vesulugo this morning 2nd May. The road at the moment with a little bit of rain on it is absolutely terrible. We passed trekkers heading back into Port Moresby with another company and their bus was waiting all the way down at McDonald's Corner. One young female trekker commented to our trekkers…TURN BACK NOW….haha

Tarina also reported yesterday on the sat phone that some bad spirits had eaten our rice in Efogi and that there wasnt enough to go round the whole 3 groups of porters.

You see there are good spirts and bad spirits according to the boys! A few weeks back our biscuits disappeared, now rice! Hence today our boys leaving from this end are also walking in some food for our boys to cook tonight on their last night at Goldie River which is where John Derrick the head guide is trying to get all our trekkers to in order to make the pick up tomorrow easier on all of us as judging by today they will have to walk out to at least Vesulugo or even closer until the sun comes out between now and then.

Hi D, on treck 129 b – hope those legs are holding up and you are enjoying the walk – it has been a shame not a lot of messages got through but thats life. Well life has been much the same as usual here except we are getting lots of rain and it is cold – you will need your thermals on return to Vic… see you soon the Dalrymples and the Juniors F.B from Morwell who have stickied at the site to see if any thing eciting happens.

Hi everyone, tomorrow we will go out to pick up one of the trekkers who apparently wants to come out tomorrow instead of the following day. At this point we will know how all the others are going who should overnight tomorrow night at Goldie River according to a sat phone call from our guide heading in the opposite direction.

If the road condition is like today its going to be fun and games trying to get them all out on Thursday as the road was terrible today, the worst since we started going out there in March this year.

Hopefully all going well, it will be sunny days tomorrow to dry out the mud so we can get in further to collect our trekkers. If not, they will have to add another couple of hours to their trek and walk down to meet wherever we can get to in the cars.

Our truck KTL 2 stuck half way up a hill today. I was driving the troopcarrier and said lets stop here at the bridge and trekkers can walk from here. However the driver of our truck wanted to give it a go…..!!! women's logic won, as he got stuck and it took around an hour to get him out of the bog and turned around. Trekkers loved the experience and all keen bushwalkers, they felt right at home.

Photograph: a trekker walking up the hill leading into Veselugo village. This is the kind of red clay mud they will all be walking on to get off the kokoda track come Thursday unless the sun comes out between now and then:

Can't wait for the boys to come out and make contact with home.

SPECIAL REQUEST: Can we pretty please have a photo or 'something' of the people on trek 129B?
So far we've had nothing, as they didn't even get in the 'before' shots, or the group photo for those who left on April 26th.
It will do all their kids the world of good to see a picture of their dads, as they've really missed them. (so have the wives) But mainly we wives want proof that they really are in Kokoda and not at a pub somewhere! <img src="http://developer2/board/upload/style_emoticons//dry.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”<_<” border=”0″ alt=”dry.gif” />
thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.(in advance)

PS: Damien is an experienced 4WDer, get him to drive your truck out. Let him pretend it's a fire engine coz he'll be having withdrawls by now for sure.
