Trek 118
The group started yesterday morning which saw them up at Isurava village later that evening. The group camped there for the night and just this morning started out for their second day journey. The group was up at Alola village, when their guide Ross gave me a call on the two-way-radio to inform me of their location and trekkers conditions. He said they where up at Alola village taking a break and soon will proceed to Iora creek, and to be followed to Templeton?s crossing where they?ll camp for the night. All trekkers are ok and doing terrific.
More update to be followed later on.
Trekkers are made up of:
Steve moore; Paul Moore; Matt Clarke; Graeme Mackenzie; Jonathon Stewart; Andrew Walsh; Warwick Bone; Bryan Rowe; Geoff Leslie; Jade Hottes; Pheobe Garside; Quentin O'Brien; Anita & Brendon Jakins
The weather looking fine at Alola Village.

Trek 118
Up early hours this morning, the group started off bright with a nice cup of coffee/tea and a little something to eat, before preparing them for yet another journey. All trekkers did extremely great yesterday; no one had problem what so ever they all did really good.
Just a minute ago, their guide Ross called me on the two-way-radio to inform me that they are now up at Kokoda Gap taking a break and soon will proceed down to Myola Junctions. They are planning on spending the night at Efogi 1, but if their legs a strong enough to carry them on, they might camp up at Brigade Hill. For now, we?ll just wait for their call and how they are progressing out there.
Otherwise everything?s fine, so is everyone.
Porters up at Mt Bellamy – as you will note, porters carry bush knives like aussie's carry around mobile phones:

Trek 118
The group is currently located at Naduri village; all trekkers and porters are having lunch and soon will move down to Efogi 1 where they will camp for the night. They will be joining up with trekkers and porters from Trek 94, who are already there and having lunch. I?m sure the two groups will have a lot to talk about as; they are coming from different directions and are heading to different directions, when the night is over and morning falls the next day, so definitely they will have a lot to share, especially the trekkers.
Otherwise everything?s good, and so far, all trekkers are doing great and having a great time out on the trail.

Trek 118
The group finally made it into Menari village, after a long hard day of walk. Although, they?ve came across some tough climbing, they all did great at the end of the day, and now relaxing at their campsite. All trekkers are well, only one or two are having pains on their knees and feet?s, but I?m sure after their good rest tonight they will feel better in no time and ready to kick start tomorrow. Otherwise, everyone else is doing terrific, the porters and guide are taking good care of them and helping them through. Also, on their way to Menari they made a stop up at Brigade Hill, where they had lunch, took some time to have a good look around, take picture, and just relax and enjoy the great view from the top. I?m sure it must have felt good staying up there for a little while, coz it?s such a beautiful view from the top and talk about the breeze, it?s just unreal.
Well again they will be spending the night with yet another lot of trekkers and porters from Trek 113, who again are also traveling the opposite direction from them. But, it doesn?t bother them, they love the company.
Weather looks terrific, so should be a great afternoon for both, till then, more updates will be posted up tomorrow and the days yet to come.
You see the great view from top of Brigade Hill.

MemberHi to Grae and the trekkers in group 118. I have been following your progress each day from the web site and am pleased to read how well everything is going. (I trust it's all true – that you are all feeling well and enjoying your sore knees, painful feet!!) Can't say I really wish I was there, however I consider that as a group you are better men and women than me, I don't think I could manage such a trek and I admire your courage and our forefathers that have undertaken this trail. Would you believe when I was at the gym (yes gym!) yesterday 'the great outdoors' show was on the plasma, showing the trail in all it's glory (beautiful views and very slippery mountain sides) and all I could do was watch and think that's what you're doing right now. By the way the compare only did 4 days of the trail and he reckons it was tough. Go team 118! Well you are over half way now and only have 3 days ahead. I trust that the knowledge that you're almost there will spirit you on to a blazing finish (slightly too much, sorry, it sounded good) and a good bath!! You'll need it, as I'm sure I wouldn't want to sit next to you on the plane trip home. In closing I hope you are enjoying your adventure, just remember that we back home are thinking of you and wishing you well throughout this life experience. Bye for now see you on Sunday.

MemberHey to Waz!
It's been a chaotic week over here, but still found a little time to miss you. This website is great for keeping up with how you guys are travelling – good to hear that all is well. It must have been trippy seeing Michelle the other night from Trek 113!? Hope you had a beer (or something??) for me too!
Your baby is kicking around like crazy since you left – must be a boy I reckon. Can't wait to see you in Sydney next week so we can both head for some warmer weather – it's been FREEZING here! Hey to Wally too, hope he's keeping you warm at night! 4 sleeps to go…
Lots of love and hugs from Nene xxx

Trek 118
This group is now currently located up at Maguli Range, and soon they will proceed down hill. They are planning on spending the night at Ofi creek and from there will move to their next destination tomorrow. So far, all trekkers have done really well; they are moving ok and getting to their destinations on time so that?s great news. Their porters and guide are also taking good care of them and helping them through, so that?s even better. Only one trekker Warrick is struggling a bit, but the porters and guide are magnificent, they?ve been taking real good care of him since day 1 and so far his done really, really well and has made it this far. I think his knees are the only thing that slowing him down, but otherwise everything else is ok and his doing fantastic.
I can?t pass any messages to any of the trekkers, as they have already moved down hill and it would be hard for the guide to call them up again. But I?ve informed the guide to let them know that, the trekkers have messages that need to be passed on to them, so the guide will let them all know, and when they get to Imita Ridge tomorrow I will be able to pass it on, but till now, it will be hard for me to send any, due to their location.
Till then, more updates to be posted later on.
Ofi Creek.

Trek 118
This group was up at, Imata Ridge when I last heard from them, but unfortunately I wasn't able to talk to them, as I was in our PNGBD 1(Papua New Guinea Business Directory 1) bus heading to the bank to get wages for the treks. From what I heard from their guide Ross, all trekkers are ok and doing fantastic. They are planning on spending the night at Goldie River and from there, will easily move up and out to Owers Corner tomorrow morning.
All trekkers were eager to hear all your messages, but due to my absents since this morning, they couldn't get any. But I'm sure when they get to their campsite, I'll be able to talk to the guide, and when I do I'll pass on all messages.
Trekkers taking a rest up at Imita Ridge.

Hi to Grae and Trekkers in Team 118,Looking at the map, you have all done very well in getting to Goldie River yesterday. Again looking at the map the passage to the finish doesn't look like a big days trek, but I'm sure there's more to it than a small hill! I'll get the champs on ice and celebrate with you when I here (or read) that you have made it out of Ower's Corner. I trust that you are all fit and well and I look forward to seeing all the photos and hearing about your time on the kokoda trail. Personally to Grae, we are all well and Jess sends her love and said to say well done dad.
You will notice a difference in the temperature on arriving back in Sydney. It's been very cold at night and there have been snow falls in the Blue Mts. and the snow fields. It is supposed to warm up this week end.
Well the excitment for me in watching your progress each day is about to come to an end. I have enjoyed being on the sidelines, what am I going to do next week!! Maybe I'll follow another teams efforts!! Thanks for taking on this adventure as it has given me an insight into the trail, which I must say I've heard all about, but to see the map and read the areas of 'steep and tiresome' etc, and to feel your experience; gives the bigger picture.
Looking forward to seeing you Grae and having you home. Say hi to Steve and all the gang.

This group completed their trek successfully on Sunday morning. All trekkers and porters did great, and made it out safely, without a single injury. They where then driven down to Bomana War Cemetery, where they took time to have a look around and take pictures, before heading back into town, and straight to their Hotels.
I know this is a late post, but I just want to CONGRATULATE YOU ALL FOR A WALK WELL DONE??.CHEERS.
