Sincere apologies for not getting something up sooner but my computer crashed and I had to wait for my IT guru to come to work today to get it up and running again…..then a pick up at Ower's Corner today….a briefing and debriefing tonight and suddently its 9:18pm and I am still posting something about this trek.

Trekkers Judy Fitzgerald; Robert Wilson & Helen Fitzgerald spent yesterday and last night soaking up some Oro Province hospitality before heading out on the trail today.

We received a message saying they had made it to Isurava and all trekkers were doing ok.

Update 28th September, 2005;

Trek 117
Finally got in touch with the group?s guide Rod Ori, who called in while taking a break at the top of Mt Bellamy after the long tiring walk from Iora Creek.

?We spent the night at Iora Creek yesterday and this morning where up by 6am to start walking again. During our walk from Isurava to Iora, one of the female trekker?s did not feel to well. She felt sick, but however she walked well and made it safely to our campsite.

Now at this time the sick trekker felt much better and has done really well so far along with the other two trekkers. They are all fine and doing terrific. We will all head down to Myola Junction and there we will camp for the night.

All trekkers have gone ahead of me with the other porters. I?m still at the top of Mt Bellamy trying to get a clear reception to get a hold of you at the base. The weather here is not too good, it?s been raining since we started, so I was not able to call you yesterday, when we got to Iora. Probably tonight I might not give you a call, but will try tomorrow when we come out of Myola,? reported Rod.

Seen here is one of the war sites down in Lake Myola.

Message from Judy: Tks for your birthday greetings – all going well.

Happy birthday to Michelle.

Spoke to Judy and Robert and they said their porters were treating them really well.

Judy added that she struggled the first couple of days but her porter and the other guys helped pull her through.

Both of them seemed full of praise for our young lads on the trail with them and area already talking about celebration drinks….and looking forward to receiving a t/shirt each.

cheers from the trail

Judy, Robert & Helen

PS They have now reached Efogi Village where they will spend the night….ie the HALF WAY POINT and will get out on Monday.

It's all downhill from here!! (so to speak). Thinking of you all & hoping you are all well. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Mum's homemade, cream-filled sponge, with chocolate icing was delicious!!! PS How's the food on the trek? <img src="http://developer2/board/upload/style_emoticons//tongue.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”:P” border=”0″ alt=”tongue.gif” /> Luv from Shir. xx

Update 30th September, 2005;

Trek 117
Now at Menari village all three trekkers are doing absolutely terrific. They are all fine, still going strong and moving really well.

They will have morning tea there and will move a step further to Nauro village where they will camp for the night.

There's been no report of anyone having problems or difficulties, all seem well.

Weather looks ok, no rain the suns up so its pretty much hot out there.

From the look-out point, the view of Efogi village where the group previously spent the night.

Update 30th September, 2005;

Trek 117
They now reside in New Nauro village. Although it was a very long walk for them, they did terrific and are now relaxing in the guest-house.

They will camp there tonight and tomorrow will proceed on to their next campsite. No injuries or difficulties have been reported, all did grate.

Weather's been pretty much hot during the day but as afternoon fell, it grew cooler.

Judy send's this message on behalf of all.

We've finished day 6 and only 3 more days to go. Today was our longest day of walk, it was tough and tiring but we're glad we all made it well and safely without injuries.

Our love to all you family members and friends and looking forward to seeing you all when we return.
