    Hello Graham and Ryan
    Graham a GREAT BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISH FOR TODAY!!!!! 50 YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG!!!! From all reports the walk is going well. You are on the last stretch now and I am very proud of how you have gone. Looks like you have had some great scenery.

    Make sure you have a big celebration tonight – maybe a feast PNG style.

    I have had a topsy turvy week including partipation in Mercury 05 exercise at work followed by a party to farewell Pip on Thursday evening; early trip to Brisbane on Friday morning and back by 930pm last night; a few emotional moments; and finally the big farewell at the airport this morning. Alicia, Sarah White, Erin and Andy showed up with gifts in the Departure Lounge and I have to say we all had a few tears. Funny feeling knowing Pip will be spending tonight in Taipei than across the world to Vancouver.

    Look forward to seeing you both on Tuesday afternoon – I will pick you up from the airport.
    Lots of Love

    Update 22nd October, 2005;

    Trek 109
    Although its been raining this last few days on the trail, which is pretty much hard to walk, as the ground is very slippery and they have to be very careful how they maneuver their steps when descending or climbing up hill. So far no bad news, all have done really well.
    Despite the bad weather and hard walking, all trekkers did absolutely terrific with the help of their porters and guide. There have been no reports of injuries or problems, all arrived well and safely at their campsite, Nauro village yesterday evening.

    When we asked to speak to the trekkers, their assistant guide informed us that all trekkers were very tired and exhausted after a long day walk and were not able to come to the Nauro base radio to get their messages. However, they have asked if we could print out all their messages and take up to Owers Corner on Sunday when they come out. From there, they will reply to all messages.

    Due to the bad weather on their side and their locations, we will not be able to make any radio contacts with the group from now on up until the day they come out. However, I?m pretty sure everything?s going to be fine and that the trekkers will be well taken care of by their porters and guides.

    Tonight, the group will camp down in Ua-ule Creek and from there will come out tomorrow.

    Seen here at Ua-Ule Creek, food-porters have already arrived at their designated campsite and are about to make fire and put hot water for the trekkers.

    See didn't I say you could do it! Sounds like things were a bit tough there for a while what with all the rain. I pictured you and Ryan sliding and slipping and slugdging and swearing through the mud and sent out some positive thoughts. Well done and congratulations! Time now for some well deserved R and R and can't wait to hear all about it. Please give me a call or SMS me to confirm that you are travelling back to Canberra on Tuesday 25 October on QF 957 which leaves Bris at 15:05 and gets in to Canberra at 16:55. If not let me know. I will pick you both up from the airport.

    hope you get this message in time before you end your trek.

    Pip successful first leg of trip. Rang from Taipei in hotel and flys out at about 11:30am her time I think which will be about ?13:30 our time. She sounded relaxed and happy when I spoke to her last night on her arrival in Taiwan.

    Love and kisses
    Sue
