Trek 1056a) This trek got away yesterday from Owers' Corner and found themselves stopped for the night at Goodwater. This morning I received a phone call from Pat to say plan a) is to head to Ofi Creek and plan B) will see them at Ioribaiwa Village for the night. Trekkers in this group include : Angela Huckauff-Schirmer; Stephen and James Lee-Burman along with Pat Vainerere their guide. The photograph below is of Angela, back for her second trek seen here with her personal porter Ivan Semie. Angela's first trek was with Kokoda Spirit. This time round with us. Go Angela, 2nd time lucky!

Trek 1056b) Two trekkers namely Sam and Jemma Tucker were supposed to arrive yesterday and play catch up to the lead group. Unfortunately they missed their connecting flight and will now be arriving this afternoon instead. They will be met and will head straight out to Owers' Corner. Clement Harika, Pat's assistant guide will walk with this group and sometime later they will all become one group as they make their way along the Kokoda Trail.

Sam Tucker and his daughter Jemma Tucker arrived this afternoon a day late and went straight to Owers' Corner after a short time at Bomana War Cemetery. They ended up walking off from Owers' Corner around 3pm this afternoon.

Update on trek 1056a: This lead group spent last night at Goodwater Campsite and today have just not long ago reached Ioribaiwa Village. The plan tomorrow is to head to Agulogo. Stephen and his son James were out the front with Angela coming up the rear. Pat said they all did well today with Angela a little anxious but he said she has done well and he is keeping a good eye on her.

Sam and Jemma Tucker along with our team of Kokoda Trekking boys called to let me know they are now at Ofi Creek. Tomorrow they hope to reach Menari and catch up with the others in group 1056a. Clement said no problems whatsoever at this stage, all going well and both father and daughter enjoying themselves out on the Kokoda Trail.

Pat just called to say they reached Agulogo guesthouse area around 5:30pm this afternoon. Stephen and James are still out the front and powering along. Angela had a really good day today and walked steadily along thoroughly enjoying herself and talking heaps apparently. Pat said something about her thinking of licking off her tatoo from her last trek. So all trekkers are doing well and looking forward to tomorrow when they head to Efogi the half way point.

Trek 1056b: Close on the heels of the lead group is Clement and his two trekkers who now find themselves at Menari for the night. Both father and daughter are doing well with no problems whatsoever. They might catch up with the others tomorrow.

Trek 1056b: This trek is now at the half way point of Efogi. Angela actually beat the other two guys today and arrived in Efogi first. Pat said it was a rough day and she lost it and blew him up. He managed to calm her down, told her to get the demons out of her head and off they went. Father and son are bonding well together as they move along the track. Tomorrow they should find it will be an easier day as they head towards 1900/Myola Junction for the night. Pat is quite confident this time round, Angela will finish her trek!

Trek 1056a: Pat just made contact via satellite phone to say they have just reached 1900/Myola Junction. Steve toughed it out today but is ok. Angela is doing really well and enjoying the trek. James, well he has no problems whatsoever, pays to be young! tomorrow the plan is to head to Eora Creek for the night. Apparently they have the trek to themselves at this stage and have only passed one trekking company from Owers' Corner until today. Rain has been kind to them as well and no-one has been drenched as yet. It is thought that the remaining members of trek 1056 will catch them sometime tomorrow.

Trek 1056a: This group are spending the night at Eora Creek. Stephen felt a bit off today so is toughing it out harder than the others but will rest tonight and head for the finish line – almost there! As for James his son, no worries. With regards to Angela, she too is powering along and no doubt the demons will be out of her head tomorrow as she gains confidence that this time round she will complete her walk.

Trek 1056b: This group have reached Templeton's Crossing and all are doing well. Tomorrow they should catch the lead group as they head to Isurava Village for the night for their last night on the track.

This trek are now one as the others caught the lead group at Alola Village. Everyone is naturally excited to be walking off the track tomorrow especially Angela who had unfinished business due to a failed first attempt. So right now think how excited she must be to have planned; trained and to have come back for another go.

Stephen it seems is ok now and James has not had any problems since day 1. As for the father / daughter combination Sam and Jemma walking with Clement, they too are looking forward to successfully completing their trek. Think of them tomorrow as they head down off the mountain. All going well they should reach Kokoda around 1pm.

Our last trek for 2016 walked through the archway in Kokoda today around 12:30pm, Congratulations from us all at Kokoda Trekking as you did yourselves and our team proud. To Angela who I spoke with earlier today, your second time across the trek and YOU DID IT, you achieved your dream! Pat Vainerere and Chris Lahai echoed the fact they were happy and excited to have finished yet another walk across the trek and with a great group of clients. After they left the Kokoda Station they were heading down to Saga Village before driving further down the road to Pija where they would spend the night before flying back to Port Moresby tomorrow morning.
