This morning our 2nd 75th Anniversary trek left from Owers' Corner. This trek is a sub contract trek walking with Clement Harika as their guide along with their trek leader Bill.
Trek 1055 – website update.jpgUpdate 17th April: This trek reached their destination of Ua'Ule Creek – all good except one tent was left behind in Port Moresby and one of the trekkers has sore knees so a short day tomorrow to Ofi Creek is the plan. In the meantime we figure out how to get another tent into them as they make their way along the track.
This trek have now reached Ofi Creek where they are camped for the night. We managed to find the missing tent and had it dropped off at Ioribaiwa today by helicopter. Unfortunately though, the group had already reached Ua'Ule Creek and no-one had given them the tent as they passed through the village. End result, one of our porters has now had to go back up the track to pick it up and then back to Ofi Creek for the night. Oh well, at least the end result is that it all worked and tonight the couple will have a tent to sleep in.
Clement added that they are all doing well.
This trek have stopped short of their destination of Nauro and are at Ofi Creek for the night. The tent for the couple was dropped off by chopper into Ioribaiwa but no-one informed our guide. Later when he called in on the sat phone I asked did he get the tent and no was the reply. Now one of our porters walked back to Ioribaiwa to collect. No mention of sore knees today which was good. Picture them tomorrow as they walk through Nauro Village.
Nauro.jpgUpdate 20th April: Clement reported in to say they are all going ok and have reached the half way point of Efogi where they will spend the night.
This group spent last night at an area commonly referred to as 'Dump 1'. Today they had a tough day with the plan of stopping at Isurava Memorial for the night. However, several big groups were at the Memorial so our group made the decision to move further down the track to Isurava Village.
Today as they made their way to Isurava Memorial the passed through Templeton's Crossing; Eora Creek and Alola. Clement said the first 3 days were more challenging due to the condition of the track and it appears not so bad the Kokoda side.
Tomorrow the plan is to move off around 7am. This should see them reach Kokoda around 1pm or thereabouts.
Everyone is ok and looking forward to finishing their trek.

If he was still alive today, he would be on this trek now, Wallace died way too young but will always be remembered as a caring, hard working guide who had my respect.

I heard they were at the Kokoda Memorial Museum area preparing to move off to Orohaven Pija where they will spend the night before flying to Port Moresby tomorrow morning. Well done everyone and a big thank you to our KTL boys.
To Bill, thanks for choosing us as your trekking group to walk alongside your group on the Kokoda Trail.
