MemberThis morning we said goodbye to two female trekkers who headed over to Popondetta for their walk across the Kokoda Trail. They were able to sleep in a little as their flight departure time was 7:30.
During the time they were waiting in the departure lounge I started receiving messages from the Popondetta area saying there had been heavy rain last week and the approach to the bridge connecting Popondetta to Girua airport had still not been repaired and our hired 4WDrive would have to drive across the river to pick them up.
All went well and they were soon in the hire car and on their way to Kokoda. It was then I received a message from one of our guides Sione Orosambo saying Kumusi River was in flood and vehicles were stuck waiting on the river to go down before they could cross.
After crossing Kumusi River they stopped at Pija Village for refreshments before continuing on to Kokoda for the commencement of their trek.
Trekkers on this trek are: Jayde Grimes and Amber Tyrrell. The guide for this trek is Cyprian Haera from Kokoda. Personal porters are Pescol Kageni and Lancelot Geroia. Food Porters are Noel Idau and Leon Orosambo.

MemberTrek 1047 continues to do well having reached the half way point of Efogi yesterday afternoon. It has been raining out on the track so conditions have been wet and slippery.
Trekkers are well and enjoying themselves according to guide report.
